I am trying to solve for forces in a wheelchair lifting device that mounts to the rear of vehicles. The only known force I have is the wheelchair weight. I am not looking for information on computer software, just some resources on solving by free body diagrams and hand calculations.
I am designing an application where I would like to weld a shoulder bolt to a mild steel plate. I am using the bolt as a precision shaft for a rotation device. I am worried about the high strength properties of the bolt causing welding strength concerns.
