Detaching elements of a FEMAP mesh

Hello All! Do you know any 'quick/smart' command for detaching already generated mesh elements on some of their connecting nodes, which can duplicate coincident nodes and re-mesh using different nodes for adjacent elements (like the 'opposite' of a merging operation)? Many thanks, p.
