Installing a Code (U stamped) half-pipe jacket on the outside of a vessel. What part of Section VIII-1 determines the weld along the two sides of the half-pipe? Can it be fillet only, or does it need to be beveled? There are lots of sections that could apply, Appendix EE is there too.

Is the B31.1 2004 with 2005 Addenda the most current (mandatory) or is there a 2006 Addenda? I know the 2007 is not due out until early next year.

My memory told me the NBIC says if you are altering an older Code vessel, you must either use the Edition/Addenda of the original vessel, or the current Ed./Ad, but I cannot find that info in the NBIC. Any help?

Can you use a Nat'l Pipe Bureau WPS for ASME PP welding? Normally every ASME certificate holder must qualify their own WPS or purchase AWS Standard Welding Procedure referenced in Section IX App. E. Today I heard of a shop that uses pipe bureau procedures only with a PP stamp.
Supposed I have two cylinders layered, with staggered seams, and each has a seam eff. of 0.70 (70%). How do you figure the combined or total efficiency of the cyliner? Is (1.0 + 0.7) / 2 =0.85 correct?
Or for 4 or 10 layers?
