A PUMP HAS ITS NPSHA DEFINED. IT IS DECIDED TO USE THE SAME PUMP WITH A DIFFERENT LIQUID.
THE TWO FACTORS THAT WOULD AFFECT THE NPSHA WOULD BE THE NEW VAPOR PRESSURE AND THE NEW SP GR.
IS THERE A RULE OF THUMB TO EVALUATE THE NPSHA WITHOUT HAVING TO DO MORE DETAILED CALCULATIONS?
THANK YOU...
hello i have a question regarding this figure
take fluid with k = 1.30 and a compression ratio of 9 go x direction and meet curve which is about 72% isentropic efficiency following the curved path and 72% polytropic efficiency
if we take the straight vertical lines we would read about 64%...
green to green is easy on the cable the remaining two are black and white on the female connector one of the screw is silverish, the other is a little yellowish

Hello! This subject is a little specialized so if in this forum there is not a specialist in this area, could you please guide me to the correct forum thank you
Briefly, could you tell me the difference between the above four diagrams
thank you very much
Your assistance is appreciated
the usual specification for dryness of instrument air at dryer exit is a pressure dew point of - 40 F. Take the pressure at this location to be 100 psig.
Question is what variables would need to be adjusted:
first, to give this value - 40 F at 100 psig
second...
Reading about gas turbines for both power generation as well as say drivers for LNG compressors, the words SHAFT and SPOOL are botH used. Are these synonymous and if they are, why use different terminology?
Thanks
Could you indicate how to manually calculate expander HP for vapor service, and liquid service. I think several of you would have done these calculations, but if there is one or more which was verified by actual use, that would be a big help, too
Thank you

Personally, I have not had an opportunity to work on an expander, some other turbomachinery yes so some experienced information would be very welcome

2. How would you determine...
WHY IS A CONDITION OF PRESSURE DEWPOINT OF -40 F CONSIDERED BETTER THAN 30 F FOR AN INSTRUMENT AIR DRYER?
WHY CAN ONE TYPE OF DRYER MEET THE FIRST CONDITION AND A SECOND TYPE CANNOT?

Hi! The subject is liquid ring pump/compressors:
1. Pumps and compressors have both been used with liquid ring design. Does this mean there are liquid ring pumps and liquid ring compressors?
2. If so, can they be identified from outside e.g. this is a pump, this is a compressor?
3. Usually...

say there is a 12 inches dia impeller installed in a pump there will be a system curve and the operating point will be the intersection of these two
now, say we replace the larger impeller with a smaller impeller, will the original system curve also change or remain the same?

IS IT CORRECT TO SAY THAT A FRAME OR LAND TYPE GAS TURBINE WILL BE SINGLE SHAFT, WHEREAS AN AERO-DERIVATIVE WOULD ALWAYS BE TWO SHAFT?
