Since Autocad uses the ACIS kernel, I doubt you will ever see the ability to export Parasolid files. You may be able to pull an ACIS file from Autocad into Solidworks and export it as Parasolid though.
I am running Autocad 2000. Unless I'm missing something, the ANSI dimensioning symbols (counterbore, countersink, depth, etc.) do not appear to be available out of the box. Does anyone know where I can get a font file that includes the ANSI dimensioning symbols? Thanks.
If you are working in 3D and using the SOLVIEW, SOLDRAW, and SOLPROF commands to generate your 2D views, dimensioning in paperspace is the only way to go. It is a nightmare in 3D to acually dimension in modelspace and have the right dimensions show only in the right paperspace viewports.

You can't do that in Autocad. What you need to do is to render to a file, and then use whatever graphics viewing program you have that can view BMP, JPG, TIFF, etc., and print from it.
Or, you can take your rendered graphics file and paste it into an Autocad drawing in its own viewport.
What is the system variable that determines whether tangent edges are shown in paperspace when SOLVIEW and SOLDRAW are used to make the 2D views of a 3D object in model space? By tangent edges, I'm referring to where a fillet meets a flat surface. Without them displayed, a solid with many...
Does anyone know of a drawing translator that will allow IGES or STEP files to be imported into Autocad? I have some solid models with complex lofted surfaces that were created in another cad package (Pro/Desktop), and I need to import them into Autocad. It is not feasible to try to recreate...
The software can be downloaded from:
http://www.ptc.com/products/desktop/index.htm
You do have to register, and they will e-mail you the software key code. Each computer it is installed on will require contacting PTC for a new key code. I'm not sure how they require this, but I know it won't...
Has anyone used Pro/Desktop Express extensively? I've just begun to use it, and am very impressed with its performance, price (FREE!), and interoperability with Autocad and Pro/E. For a free download from PTC, its seems quite capable as a 3D parametric modeler, although is lacking in some of...
What is the system variable that controls whether tangential edges (such as where a fillet meets a plane) are shown or discarded when using the SOLDRAW command? Thanks.
They Hyatt Regency skyway collapse in Kansas City is a good example. The failure was actually caused by a field change in structural connection details that was OK'd by the engineer of record without careful analysis. Another interesting fact is that the original detail, as designed and shown...
Does anyone know of a good reference book for sheet metal design? I'm looking for a general reference, not one that is specific to any particular CAD program.
When I use SOLVIEW and SOLDRAW to create views of a 3D solid model, all of the arcs which are part of the views appear correctly in paperspace. However, OSNAP does not recognize any circular arcs and they also cannot be dimensioned. Is this a known bug in Autocad 2000, or am I doing something...
I have an extremely annoying problem when working in paperspace. On some drawings, I can zoom into a portion of a viewport with no problems. On others, when I zoom in to a portion of the viewport the contents are automatically rescaled on the screen view so that the viewport objects fill the...
