    Gabion bridge bulkhead

    we are consdiering a gabion bulkhead (6'w x 21' L x 9'h) to support a rail car bridge. Rock may not be available. Will gabion strength be compromised if gravel (2" minus) is used with reiforcement grade geotextile basket lining? Max truck load is 100 tons. Most loads under 50 tons.

    We are designing a gravel work pad expansion over this profile 0-1' ice, 1' - 2' water, 2' - 9' saturated peat, then dense hardpan. It is a mottled wetland, so ice not continuous. Any advice on how to handle the ice? If we leave it, it makes a good suface to roll out the AMOCO 4551 nonwoven...
