We are asked to design a support for a pressure vessel about 8" diameter and 10' long.
The type of support specified is "horseshoe support" and we are not certain what it is. Is it an another name for saddle supports?
If anyone has any pictures that would hep to.
Thanks in advance.
This is only my guess, I maybe wrong.
TEMA designates size of exchanger to reflect the overall heat transfer area. The shell ID and the straight length of the tubes may indicate it. In some cases the U bends are not considered effective heat transfer surface area and that maybe why it is not...
Picasa,
It is according to TEMA recommended practice. HX are designated with nominal diameter and nominal length.
Nominal diameter - inside diameter of shell, rounded off to the nearest integer.
Nominal length - actual length for straight tubes and approximae straight length from end to bend...
What is the criteria to decide if an expansion joint is required or not in a shell and tube exchanger? What values of mean metal temperatures are considerd the limiting values for the need for expansion joint? If this is available in a code, could you give the reference.
Thanks in advance,
