End Cap Design
It is 20inch OD. The change in wall thickness is only 3mm. The end cap is on a pipe, however it is not covered in the pipeline design code and so we are referring to pd5500 for guidance. Thanks.- JT100

Thanks for reply, it will be a flanged pup piece with dished end welded on. I couldnt find anything on SIFs but thought there would be. I will specify a smoothed taper.- JT100

End Cap Design
I am currently designing an end cap (domed end) using PD5500. I cannot find any reference to SIFs in this code, or in the explanatory code for Section 3.5.2 (PD6550). If I have a step change in wall thickness from the pipe to the end pipe is there a SIF to be applied? Could someone please refer...- JT100
