UliR Jim is spot on, Just for the record a parallel faced gate valve can also be "cam"ed onto the body seat as well as pressure energised, generally they have lower operating thrusts as they are not required to ram into the body wedge. Fixed cone (Howell Bunger) valves. Small and cheap? Bypass outlet .
Gerhardl You may want to evaluate Larner Johnson needle valves or submerged discharge valves, they do come in smaller sizes (DN25 1" is the smallest I've seen) but would be relatively expensive vs conventional gate, ball type valves. Conventially Larner Johnson valves are not normally free...- jamesb1965
