    Interference/Displacement for welding Nylon with Infrared

    What would be the calculation for the distance of interference betwen two parts in Infrared welding? There is for Ultrasonic welding about the size of the energy director (Shape, angle & width), but I can not find for Hot plate or Infrared welding.

    From the two ways that I know of milling gas ports for rings in a piston, vertical or sideways; Which will work better? I'm thinking on using one of this methods in a 383 project.
