    #10 - #12 AWG Stranded Wire?

It is a matter of choice for some electricians, There some that prefer stranded for the pulling aspect and that the crimp-on connections work extremely well. The crimp-on connections are lousy with solid wire, but I thing the wire-nuts work better on solid as opposed to stranded. I think that...

Urgent Help - Electrical Power Problems

I would suspect that you have a disconnected or burnt neutral conductor on a multiwire branch circuit or the neutral conductor coming from the utility somehow got severed.

    Making a transformer

If you have a 10MHz crystal source driving a 5W narrowband amplifier, into ijl's 100pF feed-through (rotory) cap, and on the rotor a series 2.533uH inductor for series "warpspeed" resonance (The L-C disappears!!). Then into a small bridge and cap for your source. Plus no need for rubber gloves...

My first thought was a Van de Graaff generator, but I will let it rest.

    Basic Tripler Circuit

Thanks Biff, It has been a while, but sure thought the arrays were schottky diode arrays, but they could have been arrays of varactor diodes I guess. That program died and ugly death as I recall. Now not to be a pain, but is Idler a reference to a person, or an abstract representation of the...

    Basic Tripler Circuit

I remember being in reviews about HP triplers w/ monolithic schottky diode arrays, they were very concerned about some "idling current", I was lost. Can somebody now fill me in what is this idling-circulating current is why it was apparently so importent?

    conversion question

    Amps = coulombs/sec Hertz = cycles/sec therefor the convertion is (1)pA= (1)Hz* (1)picocoulomb/cycle or (1)pA=(1)Hz*(1)coulomb/(1)Gigacycle. Obvious I thought.

    Aircraft Communication Antenna Damage

I would say that when it breaks off and flys into the jet engine intake, would be an unexceptable case of an aircraft damaged antenna. Other than that maybe it the VSWR is 10 or so?

Sustained inrush of 400 amp at 34.5 kV on transformer

Was this a Hoax or what? It first appeared to be phenomena of unprecedented proportions, but, yet it died with only a cursory review.

    Making a transformer

While we are talking high freq's and narrow gaps, why not just use a air dielectric capacitve feed through. Much simpler in principle.

    51G protection

The NEC says that for feeders 800A and above need GFP. It does not require it be designed well.

    Are we becoming "sloppy" Engineers

You people are lucky to even complain. The morons that have been breastfeed by the government virtual pearl harbor, idiocy, have outsourced all computer functions, leaving only the sacred Microsoft office. This is no joke. I am back to paper and pencil, but I can still do some plotting by using...

    dc-35 MHz 50Ohm-4000 Ohm Transformer

Maybe I am missing something here, but, generally moderate power levels of DC can easily be provided by means of an RF/IF/LO transmission line center conductor (coax/micro/cpw). But is not with conventional waveguide or the minimized planewave active optical systems. 3-octive matching networks...

    When is enoug a enough

I am starting to get the trend, and actually it horrifies me on this Hollowed night. (Yes, I did the normal rituals too, setting the old 5-1/4” floppies on fire and braking the bad silicon wafers on the brick wall). But As a fact of the matter, it is .. The job interview “ and So Mr. So in So...

Sustained inrush of 400 amp at 34.5 kV on transformer

Maybe the utility has a reactor in line to limit the inrush (or fault current)? The classical 12XFLA for 0.1sec does not fit well for your case.

    Scaler Network Analyzer question

I have not worked much with the scalar analyzers. But I have been to MTTS, etc tradeshows that demonstrated attenuation analyzers. These, even up in the mmw's would provide clean insertion loss curves from 80 to 120dB down. This was something I could never acheive with the VNA's. At least in the...
