    It's ok. So i guess the second heat treatment was not done. But what did happen to the ring that it has a half annealed structure and a half normalized? It is possible that the ring was annealed and by working it reached high temperatures and normalized?

    The material from whitch the bearing is made is 52100. The heat treatment is supposed to be good for this bearing. It doesn't matter the temperatures.     So it's an interior ring with a half annealed and a half normalized structure(not quenched as i said earlier). The half with annealed structure has 25-30 HRC, the other half has 40-45 HRC. Here is the etched sample. Annealed structure Normalized structure

    I don't think I can do this. I would like to see how it works and then fails thou. I work in the metallographic laboratory so I must know also how they fail and how to resolve problems that arise. Thanks anyway for your response.

    I know that theoretical it's possible if the bearing is overheated at about 900-1000 grades Celsius, it can be annealed. May this be the explanation?

    It was annealed before second heat treatment and quenching in oil and tempering. Tempering was done at 180-190 degrees C. It's a new part. I just need to know what microstructure is this. Thx guys!

    It's RUL(52100) steel and it has like 33-44 HRC. It must have 60 HRC. Something in heat treatment went wrong, i don't know what because i don't work in heat treatment. There are carbides but there is no martensite. The matrix looks like ferite or something else, troostite maybe, i don't know.

    I have a roller that has been heat treated(quenched and tempered) and it has a strange microstructure. I think it's troostite but i don't know for sure. It must be martensite with some small round carbides.

    I'm having problems with S705 BOHLER tool steel as I can't find anything about the microstructure. Can anybody please help me with this? This steel is quenched and tempered, so it must have small carbides and a clean structure. I didn't find any photo on the web regarding the structure.

    What parameters of heat treatment should i use for steel SH15G-v and SH15SG-v if i want to reaveal carbide bands? I use the same heat treatment for both steel marks but it's not always good , because sometimes instead of white bands i get them black and can't figure out how to proper analyse them.
