I have a formed sheet metal component in a ATV muffler that is spec'd as 409L (1.2mm thick). It is a fairly complex and deep draw and we have been experimenting with size of the blank, but we still get either rupture of the material in certain areas or other areas that don't pull out smooth. sub for SRS-60 spring steel
thread693-187662 - Along the lines of these questions and answers, I have been asked by a supplier if they can use springs made from HDS12L steel as a substitute for the SRS-60. Vendor is ArcelorMittal USA. Chemistry looks pretty close to the same. Does anyone know this material?- stat65
