The presence of salt does reduce the solubility of O2 in water. Check the following article from Petroleum Technology Quarterly, Spring 1998. "Oxygen solubility in various alkanolamine/water mixtures" (see Figure 5).

While not directly applicable to the original post you may want to consider the following from API RP14J Recommended Practice for Design and Hazards Analysis for Offshore Production Facilities
3.3.11 Drain Systems: Planning and construction of offshore production facilities should include...
Can you tell me what IEEE Standards would apply to a oil-filled, single phase, pad mounted transformer with a 480 VAC Primary and 12,500 and 16,500 VAC Secondaries. Power rating of 200 – 500 kVA. The standards I find appear to be limited to lower voltage primaries.

Runasep,
Perhaps you could consider putting a hyperlink to the following website into your spreadsheet.

researchguru,
per ISO 19902 Fixed Steel Offshore Structures / Appendix A.10.3 Vessel Collisions / A.10.3.2 Collision events
The kinetic energy of a vessel may be calculated using the equation:
E = 0.5 (a x m) v^2
Where:
E = the kinetic energy of the vessel, MJ
a = added mass factor...
You may want to review the paper at mahbsrv.jrc.it/downloads-pdf/ASTM_A_105.pdf before you make any final decisions about using A105 at low temperatures.
The Chemical Risks Directorate Federal Ministry of Employment and Labour in Brussels recommends that critical ASTM A105 pipe flanges, i.e...
Google the International Life Saving Appliance (LSA) Code. Most of these rules come under the Juridiction of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), the International Maritime Organization and the United Nations.
I use an Excel addin to calculate gas mixure properties. It cost ~$200 and it is based on the Lee Kessler Equation of State. You probably wouldn't want to design an LNG facility with it but it is very handy for doing routine calculations. You can get it from Moongate Software.

afsiii,
Actually API 610 is now in it's 10th edition. In the introduction the following text appears:
"Users of this International Standard should be aware that further or differing requirements may be needed
for individual applications. This International Standard is not intended to inhibit...

Gentlemen,
In I. Karassik's book, "Centrifugal Pump Clinic", he describes pumps which operate "in the break" or under "submergence control". These systems were designed and sucessfully relying on cavitation to limit the flowrate delivered by the pumps. He goes on...
Thread,
I'm not sure who invented the dual contact angle concept but the firt I heard about it was at a TAMU Pump User Symposium when an engineer from MRC gave a presentation about their new Pumpac bearings. MRC have since been integrated into SKF but I am sure that they have enough...
Thread,
This comment may be a liitle off the point but the repeated comments to the thermal nature of cavitation damage made me think of some recent articles I have read regarding single-bubble sonoluminescence. You may want to take a look at http://web.bham.ac.uk/mjb594/sbsl.html or do a...

They have free software that you can download that will size aerial/fin-fan coolers and fans. I have checked the results against HTRI and other proprietary packages and the results are surprisingly good. The U factor defaults are not...
tsurikov,
I may be a little out of my depth here but it seems to me that the following must be true:
The relative proportion of the the filter volume that is metal and that is "void" is the same regardless of the size of the bronze powder used in fabricating the matrix. That is if...
Sabir,
Merzi makes a good point. In a different application we have found that dual certified 316/316L flanges are useful in that they allow us to use the higher allowable ratings (per ASME B16.5) of the 316 and still get the low carbon content required by the welding process.
Gunnar
Fawkes,
As you say, perhaps I have misunderstood the intent of the PED.
As an example, let's assume a horizontal API type separator, designed to handle an oil/water/gas mixture at 10 bar and 50 C. Let's also assume that the materials of construction are ASTM A105/106B/516-70. Let's also...
