Gas Carburizing Effect On Surface Finish

You can also check out Ion Nitriding or Vacuum nitriding to avoid the surface effects.

WhatÆs the quickest way to make dimensioned machining drawings?

Do a file, save as, choose new location, new name, then... click the "reference" box and edit (slow double click) the model path and file name, select ok (that menu will be updated and close), select "save" and you have: A new drawing, a new model in a new location.

    Laptop Notebook Graphic Card

Don't get the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 510M as installed on the HP nx9420. It's not compatible and I'm using open GL as a workaround. Sure wish there was a fix.

Could preview of drawing be different from actual drawing?

Yes, that is what happened. Thank you!!

Could preview of drawing be different from actual drawing?

I have a SW2005 sp01.1 file that shows a tolerance in "view only" or preview that changes when the file is opened to edit. How is that possible? I sent the "view only" drawing as a pdf to vendor who caught the mistake. When the drawing is opened for editing it is correct.

    High Vibration of reciprocating compressor

Check for gas pulsation and use orifices and or bottles to fix. Bracing of lines in and out will also help with this problem. Bolted on mass tuned to cancel resonance can be successful.

Is there a template for designing helixes?

I'm looking for a way to design springs with configs that have "free lgth", "installed", "actuated", etc, as configs. This takes quite a bit of setting up to make it work. Surely there is a template available for say, compression springs, extension springs, etc.

    Cardan Error Eq.

Sorry, my mistake; I meant to say A (I used beta = 2*pi angle of rotation in Mathcad). Can't figure this out yet. Any idea? -Monkeywrench

    Cardan Error Eq.

Referring to sreid's post: "The equation you seek for a single Cardan joint for the input shaft/output shaft speed is Woutput/Winput = cosB/(1-sin^2[B]sin^2[A]) where B = angle between the shafts A = rotational angle of the input shaft" When I plot this, I get a sine wave from +1 to -1 as the...

Insert existing drawing as sheet 2

Scott: WOW - that works! One star for you. I'll use this often since I keep all drawings for the project in one file and occasionally add existing drawings to the file rather than create them there. Thanks for the tip. -Monkeywrench

Insert existing drawing as sheet 2

Thanks for the response; it would not have been a problem if I had known the road was "dead end". -Monkeywrench

Insert existing drawing as sheet 2

I have multiple sheets in the project drawing (castings, details, assemblies, etc). I have an existing detailed drawing that I want to add as "insert sheet". I can insert a view, but not the corresponding sections, details, etc. Is there any way to do this?

Convert from 2004 back to 2003

Most new functionality encourages upgrades. Backwards compatibility functionality does not do so. A cynical perspective is that SW wants to encourage more upgrades.

Convert from 2004 back to 2003

Thanks for the responses. I looked on my Win2000 C: drive and found a SW Backups folder that was empty. Woops, I thought I wasn't making any backups for some reason, or I had recently cleaned them all out; but that wasn't the case: another folder under Documents and Settings/ myname/ Local...

Convert from 2004 back to 2003

Thanks, I tried the export to parasolid, then featureworks, but not much success due to threads, etc not recognized. At least I have the solid for the assembly.

Convert from 2004 back to 2003

One component of a large assembly was converted to SW2004 sp01. I need to get it back to 2003 sp3.1 rather than recreate from scratch. Is there any way to do this?
