what's mine is mine, what's yours is mine ?

Of course the VN era Vertol CH-47 Shithook long ago became the Boeing CH-47 Chinook or the VN era Hughes UH-6 LOH which is now the Boeing UH-6 or AH-6 Cayuse... or the Hughes AH-64 which is now the Boeing AH-64 Apache... or the Ted Smith Aerostar... which became the Piper Aerostar...

    SpaceX Starship missions

LH2 is brutal @ -425F on any composites. Perhaps the use of LM [Liquid Methane] @-258F would be a more viable and safe solution...? After-all, LO2 is -295F and I think that was NOT a problem.

Fatigue justification of a thread bolt

I thought I was a 'fastener guy'... but this is unintelligible to me.

    SpaceX Starship missions

OH YEAH lets not forget Titanium O2 tanks in Apollo 13 Service Module... of course they had already experienced unknown damage during proof testing. If I remember correctly the Lockheed Venture Star couldn't shed enough tank mass and was not successful with composite LH2 tanks...

    SpaceX Starship missions

Did everyone notice these composite-wrapped-tanks are in the nose of the vehicle?... Forward of the payload/crew compartments... I'm pretty sure the Space Shuttle had titanium propellant tanks in this area.

what's mine is mine, what's yours is mine ?

    This reminds me... The General Dynamics F-16 is now the Lockheed-Martin F-16 The McDonnell-Douglas AV8, F-15, F-18, T-45, C-17 MD80s DC10 etc... are NOW the Boeing AV8, F-15, F-18, T-45, C-17, 717, etc...

How did you develop engineering intuition and grow into a strong problem solver?

<<<See the round circle above my name?... I helped my dad build that homebuilt aircraft [T18] starting in Jr High... thru my college years. I was born into aviation and flying and almost had no choice in this matter... I was destined to be a pilot. Then I met the designer of 'that T18...

    Fasteners substitution %'s

rb... when I was a USAF field service engineer overseas I carried a single 'NO BS' 5 X 9 notebook that was numbered in-sequence for every action/call I took. I rigorously documented everything to my notebook... #/date/time/who/where/when/what/why/how. When challenged... I would confirm by...

    Fasteners substitution %'s

ALSO, My curiosity is killing me... I have been in the serious business of aerospace fasteners for +40 and the term 'Ply's'... RE: fasteners... is 100% alien to me. WHAT ON THIS PLANET DOES PLY'S' MEAN in relationship to fasteners???????? /NOTE/ Every discipline in engineering has a 'standard...

    Fasteners substitution %'s

Ask Gulfstream for their parts and materials substitution lists or drawings or IPB, etc. Be careful... for certified aircraft parts substitutes, already approved... no sweat. For substitutes, NOT already approved in any way by Gulfstream, or a DER, you might have an uphill fight. Where this...

Current Standards for Circuit Card Rework and Repair of Airline Avionics.

Like I said earlier... lightplate repairs/overhaul/replacements are a niche-specialty... especially when it comes to matching color and luminescence. I found a shop in Wichita KS that does this as a business... especially for low quantity [onsey-twosy] work. Where I work now, there is a...

Grim news... Trump's 2026 budget would slash NASA funding by 24% and its workforce by nearly one third

Where exactly did You here this hot mess??? Some backwater astrology channel...?? You are aware... as a mariner... the ocean is loaded with sensors... NOAA is constantly measuring everything from the top of the atmosphere into ocean depts... and across all land masses... adding everything...

Grim news... Trump's 2026 budget would slash NASA funding by 24% and its workforce by nearly one third

Hmmm... Your view of the world is a tough nut to crack. Early oceanic explorers took copious notes and records of the Oceans, seas and waterways... for the 'big/refined picture'. modern man does the same from space observations correlated by ground and water observations. I wonder where the...

Grim news... Trump's 2026 budget would slash NASA funding by 24% and its workforce by nearly one third

Earth planetary science is NOT critical to long life survival...?? And is NOT critical for understanding natural forces... atmospheric, land, oceanic, thermal... etc on the the sun and other solar system planets...??? My opinions on this subject are expressed by these verbal 'equations'...

    Engineering designation of critical parts

Every company that I'm aware-of... that NEEDS to designate a part as 'manufacturing/flight critical'... has written/numbered policy document(s) or drawings or Flag Notes, that explicitly state fabrication criteria... A-to-Z... for the raw material, drawing quality...
