In fact for design of a labyrinth seal in a water pump I search for the amount of gap (radial or axial) between rotary and stationary parts in an application with 1500 rpm and oil(SAE 30)sealing(bearing lubrication. can you help me? is this type of sealing useful?

I want to measure the internal radial(or axial)clearance in a practical way before and after mounting the bearing(taper roller or angular contact) on shaft.can you help me?
For creating clearance between two taper roller bearing (face to face), Shall we use spacer ring bigger/smaller than distance between two outer rings of bearings?
For example if we have 35mm distance between two outer rings, shall we use 35.05mm or 34.95mm spacer ring??
