    Drawing Revisions on ITP ?

Guys, What is the thinking on doing this ? Currently we reference company standards and drawings but no revisions - although the ITP is revisioned as a standalone doc. We manufacture remotely to 3rd parties and also use 3rd part inspectors. My thinking is that we use the ITP as the common...

    Best equipment to use to..

I have to go to India soon and measure a 4kw motor current in relation to speed that is used to start a big mining mill. So i'm looking to produce a graph of rms current vs motor speed ( and time ) What would you recommend i take.? Handheld current clamp / data logging software / multimeter...

how to measure temp in an aggresive environment?

Can't do IR - cos of the dust / mineral / media cloud. However, its the 'process' of the grinding i need to measure the temp of - actually in the chamber. Can't do it at entry or exits either. Been looking at Dwyer stuff - but nothing seems suitable yet.

how to measure temp in an aggresive environment?

The machine we manufacture needs a temperature feedback control added to it. Problem is, the part of the machine i need to measure is rotating in mid-air at 800rpm in a mineral grinding chamber. I've been racking by brains on this one and decided to try a thermocouple to start with ( but open...

    shaft / bore aligning ?

The shaft is in a different casting to the bolted up bore housing. There is a flat bolt-up connection to join the two parts.

    shaft / bore aligning ?

I need to come up with a solution to align a bearing bore in a bolt-up casting that is a metre from a shaft end that it needs to be concentric to. Heres some ideas so far. laser on a block attached to shaft pointed at 'target' that is plugged into bore. Spin shaft and move casting until...

how to put excel column data into SW 2D sketch ?

Tried that and it doesn't do what i want. a) i've got 500 rows of data and it wants me to insert one row at a time - duh- way too time consuming. b) tries to fit a curve - i just want points Thanks, though.....

how to put excel column data into SW 2D sketch ?

going on from my CMM question... if i've got 2 excel columns of x and y data - whats the best way - if at all - of getting it into an new sketch with selectable points. I've got an add-in program that puts the data into a 3D sketch - but the points are non-selectable when converted to a...

How best to ask for CMM data ?

We have an expensive large bearing set manufactured and CMM'd by our sub-contractor. The Data he is sending us is largely rubbish - consisting of 2 unreferenced columns of txt data -( X,Y) and an un-datumed DXF file with offset profiles and no other information. What can i reasonably ask him to...

    loctite,oil or anti-seize ?

Don't know if this has been asked before, but here goes.... We make a highly dynamic and vibratory rotating machine that is subject to large and irregular loads. It has various types of bolted joint connections in the form of flanges, collars, rings etc etc. Previous designers have dictated...

    Overheating

Surely if you've put bigger pistons/barrels in and using the same heads then compression will go up significantly. This will make more heat. Timing should be retarded - not sure about the 3 degrees. Flame front travel will have a longer path but occur more quickly - possibly leading to...
