Hi,
we would like to make some tests for HDTV, and we need to set up a short range transmission (max 5m). I would like to know if I can use a simple VHF/UHF dipole antenna, to transmit and another dipole to receive? If not, what antenna should I use?
Thank you for your help!

Hi,
I would like to build a bi-band GSM antenna (900-1800) for external conections, but I can't find homebrew projects on the web. Can someone help?
The antenna can be omnidirrectional or dirrectional, it doesn't matters.
Thanks

Hi,
I would like to transform a passive 2.45 Ghz patch antena into an active one. Does someone has some schematics, layout or advice to give me to build a low noise amplifier?
The antena is made for short range wireless (10-15 meters).
Thanks,
Thomas K.

All,
I found some interesting links on Google about ground planes...
1)http://www.radiocad.com/downloads/SensAna.pdf
2)http://www.trompeter.com/assets/product/PDF/may2_reed.pdf
3)http://homepages.wmich.edu/~bazuinb/ECE560/Dayton.pdf

Hi Alva,
I'm also really interrested about ground planes layouts and design for RF PCBs... Do you have some links to suggest?
Thanks,
Thomas K.

I think about Fidelity from Zeland softwares, but FEKO could maybee do the job too...

Go at http://wes.feec.vutbr.cz/~raida/multimedia_en/
and if you want more infos get this book "Microstrip Antenna Design Handbook" by Garg, Bhartia, Bahl and Ittipiboon (dispo at amazon.com)...
Have also a look at previous tips on this forum thread247-46930 and others...
For references you can read Chapter 8 of Microstrip antenna Design Handbook by Garg, Bhartia, Bahl and Ittipiboon.
You should feed the antenna on the other diagonal of the patch to get left hand polar... or feed the patch by the axe of symetry and truncate two oposites corners of the patch to...
Thanks Greg for your reply, it's exactly what I was waiting for !!!
I found this formulla in an electrical school book...

I'm sorry Nbucska but not "every HF coax"... as the one I have doesn't !
It comes from recuperation, and I would like to use it to feed a microstrip antenna with 50 Ohms impedance...

Hi,
I wonder how I can simply find the carracteristic impedance of a coax cable ?
I wanted to calculate it knowing that Z0= SQRT(L/C) with SQRT=> square root ; L,C: lumped elements...
But I've another problem... it's that I don't know the dielectric material so I can't find Epsilon_r !!
Can...
Hi all,
I would like to know if microstrip antennas needs balun feeding ? If yes how to implement one ?
Thks,

Hi all !
I would like to know if someone as some experiencies with Sonnet Suite software ? Is it easy to learn/use ? Is it accurate ? What about PCB radiations simulations ?
My purpose is to use it for microstrip antennas, PCB radiations and planar analysis...
Thanks,
