I guess I misunderstood the calculation to be performed. I think if we use the DNV SN-Curves they should include already the SCF for the geometry and the allowable stress range should be compared to the nominal stress. Is that correct?
The frame is to be used offshore on a topside and supports equipment which are fixed. The fatigue loads are due to the environmental load only, hence vessel accelerations and prescribed displacement from ship bending.
Good Day All,
I need your advice on the following:
I am assessing a frame made mostly with H beams and braces with gusset plates connections. My client is asking to assess all the connections for fatigue, but I cannot find any typical stress concentration factor for H beams connections (beam...
Good Day All and many thanks for your replies.
I will have a read through the documents you have suggested. In particular I believe that AISC Primer should be a good help on this, but I will need to wait my membership to be processed to download it for free.
After that, I will let you know...
Good Day to All,
We are frequently working on bolted connection analysis in the offshore field. Most of the analysis that we carry out are according to AISC or BS.
Although I have read many things on bolted connections, I would like to have some reference documents with practical examples...
Thank you very much for your reply SethGuthrie.
Actually we have just started to use RAM Connection in our company but we need to get used to it. For the brace, I would assume that you meant the maximum beam end force between beams 36, 41 and 103, is that correct?
Sorry,
Now the attached have been correctly uploaded.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=fdeff926-b2a9-45e8-9c2d-a72e17414789&file=EngTips_Thread_Beam_End_Forces_2.JPG...
Good Day All,
I am a Naval Architect working in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry.
I am very pleased to have joined your forum that I have always found very useful during my career.
I wish one of you could clarify my doubt:
I need to design the bolted connections in a steel structure...
