Excellent suggestion to hire a third party analyzer, I will present that at the next meeting as a first step "identifying the problem"..................'8ball
ScottyUK,
I'm saying that the contactor drops open and the motor stops immeadiatly. I've never used a disturbance analyser, would you recommend a Mfg and model number?....'8ball
OK, We have 60, 3000-PSI hydraulic power supplies in a remote room under our material testing lab (isolates noise and heat). They consist of 1 - 125 HP, 2 - 75 HP, 25 - 50 HP and the rest are 10 and 20 HP 480 VAC 3 phase motors and they power actuators rated from 2,000 to 1,000,000 pounds force...
You are right ScottyUK, we used to try keeping some of the contactors up with a battery UPS and succeded in burning up motors when the voltage dipped or a single phase dropped out on the mains, I'm telling you the quality of our power leaves much to be desired.
We run high performance servo...
WOW!!! Thanks everybody!! I have lots to digest along with my own research.
I live and work in Western PA and he have had power problems since the 90's when I started here. Our most common problem is when we lose power for just 5 - 10 milli-Seconds, our pumps shut off. This can happen in a...
Has anyone had experiance with industrial sized flywheel UPS systems? My company is plauged by service line spikes, brown outs, blinks and storm related outages. I understand storm related outages but our power company is unable to correct or explain the brown outs and blinks which raise hell...
I am seeking advice on what type of equipment is used to perform resistivity testing on electrical conductor materials as described in ASTM standard, B 193-02
Thank you JRaef,
I only asked because I have a print of a 3 phase 415Vac motor starter/controller designed and built in the UK. It has a 240/110 transformer on L1 to neutral, a 240/24Vdc power supply on L2 to neutral and another 240/24Vdc power supply on L3 to neutral. I didn't think it looked...
What is the best way to tap off 1 phase ~230 Vac from a 3 phase 460 Vac 60hz main? It will be used to power a cooling fan and a couple of small dc power supplies in an enclosure.
Thank you, gentlemen, for all of your valuable input. I am going with a VFD for this application, although I may try a motorboss for a future, smaller and less critical application just to see how they work.........apa6eightball
Thanks for your response and the FAQ links, CJCPE, they offer some valuable information. We are using a PLC to control a valve to dump the pressure at start up to reduce the load, then ramp the pressure up after the motor is at full speed. We are using a compensted pump to handle an anticipated...
I am designing a new starter/control system for a 3000 psi hydraulic power supply with a 3 phase, 460Vac 100hp motor. I have been looking for something more efficiant than a star delta and found the Motorboss soft starter sold by Advanced Motor Power, www.advancedmotorpower.com, has anyone ever...
