How do I call out spiral slot?

Hi there, I have this half round slot swiping through spiral curve. How do I call out this slot? A best practice example would be nice. Thanks.

circular pattern on a cylindrical surface

It could work if I specify "along vector" then select a circular edge.

    how to roll sheet metal?

    Nice. Thank you, Jerry.

    how to roll sheet metal?

OK. I create one helix curve, offset it with sheet thickness, then connect the two curves. Now I can extrude from a close curve. Looks could do the job. Thanks.

circular pattern on a cylindrical surface

    Another try.https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=6edd3269-a8ac-4c9d-9bfc-a00f3e88ce3d&file=Capture.PNG

circular pattern on a cylindrical surface

This is NX8.5. I've been using is for a while... weird. Maybe the failure is related to how the first hole is made?https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=1af60110-16d4-4b38-a117-834ff57427a5&file=Capture1.PNG

circular pattern on a cylindrical surface

Hi there, I have failed to pattern a hole on cylindrical surface. Any idea how to make it? Thankshttps://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9bd64a23-8061-4396-a65f-28dbe382dcc9&file=circular_pattern_on_cylindrical_surface.PNG

    how to roll sheet metal?

Hi there, I'm looking for a way to roll sheet metal as shown in attached picture. Thanks.https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=b20f4002-590f-434c-8337-466bde111ca2&file=Capture.PNG

    high thermal conductivity alloy

    Not fragile? See attached.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=0dc714b2-b62c-43c0-99a9-6fd6597df4b6&file=SiC.pdf

    high thermal conductivity alloy

I'm trying to transfer heat through this block to aluminum billet as fast as possible. The end goal is to heat billet up to 500°C. This block would be a key component on my heating machine.

    high thermal conductivity alloy

Ok, let me try. Geometry: Block 250 X 120 X 50mm, some precise ø13 holes on it, and some other features can be relatively easily machined. Operation temp: 650°C Thermal conductivity: >50W/mK Strength: let's say comparable to AISI 316. Environment: open to air but makes contact to aluminum...

    high thermal conductivity alloy

Unfortunately it is not oxygen free. We actually tried SiC. The material is very fragile and can be broken easily. Because of its high hardness, it was almost impossible to do precision machining.

    high thermal conductivity alloy

Hi there, I'm looking for an alloy whose thermal conductivity should be over 50W/mK at 650degC. The higher the better. The material takes some force at 650degC therefore requires strength. I don't want to use copper or its alloy because they don't resist to aluminum corrosion in my application...

NX 11 crashed and now everything is painfully slow

I have this problem too. Since my win10 was upgraded couple of days ago, the NX has been super slow.

how to establish datums at MMB using CMM

Hi, A very simple question but I don't have answer. Let's take fig. 4-18 in '09 standard as an example. I have a hard gage simulating datam A, B and C. If I use CMM to inspect all gd&t, do I establish datums by probing surfaces on actual part or datum feature simulators on gage? If the latter...

add reusable component vs. add component

Hi, When I "Add Reusable Component" in an assembly, there is "Create Component Pattern" check box that I can select to automatically add a standard part to all features in a pattern. See attached. Then I save the standard part to local, and add it to an assembly under "Add Component", there is...

best way to add machining features on assembly

Hi, We do many welding parts. What is the best way to add machining features on a welded assembly model? We use NX8.5. Thanks.
