This is a 3"Ø swing check valve with a ½"x1" relief valve that appears to be mounted into the check via a threaded boss on the check valve body. I can't see much due to insulation. This is carrying -28°F liquid ammonia.
The P&ID shows the Relief Valve coming from the Check Valve. Symbol indicates Swing Check.
The attached photo shows the Relief coming off directly opposite the bolted cover.
It is a very short relief run, from Discharge directly to Suction line to Pump. Both Suction and Discharge are...

Ah... missed that Series A/B bit. If they ordered the valve as B16.47-A we'll be OK with the MSS SP-44 flanges, otherwise, we have to get B16.47-B flanges to match. Dimensions are a little different.
Now I have to find out just exactly what the client is getting after he ordered it as simply...
Are there expansion joints on the suction &/or discharge?
It could be thermal expansion of the piping attached, causing pump casing deflections leading to seal wear.
For large flanges (>24"Ø), I've always used B16.47. A question has arisen around here about dimensions for "ANSI" vs MSS dimensions. Seems a 30"Ø valve was ordered with 600# "ANSI" flanges. I'm thinking this means B16.47 since "ANSI" is now spelled "ASME".
So the question for the group here...

I forgot to go back and add the hanger loads (H) in the 2 HGR cases after changing one to a User Defined Hanger.
As usual, the longer it takes to figure out a computer problem, the more obvious the solution. :p
