Dievant,
Your solution did do the trick for stopping the issue I was having. Thanks.
It did produce undesirable, but expected, results in that I am no long ever able to check in a part's drawing when checking in the part. But that's a minor inconvenience compared to what I had been going...
ArtL,
Thanks for the reply. I was using this specific example to explain what was happening. It happens with every part that has the ass'y as a reference though - including top-down driven parts.
I can't break all references else I defeat the purpose of having the references.
I've got a problem I can't figure out.
Let's say I have an assembly and its drawing open - we'll cal it Assem123. That assembly consist of 4 parts - Part1, Part2, Part3, and Part4 which was created as a LH mirror of Part3 within the context of Assem123. Everything is checked out to me in...
I am using SolidWorks 2010 and am having an issue with BOM tables. I am looking to add components to a BOM that are not in the model (for example for paint, or for hundreds of fasteners that we either don't have the time or a need to put into the assembly or otherwise choose not to for other...
This is where we utilize the Enterprise vaults. We have set up a Development vault and a Production vault. Everything starts in a project folder in the Development vault. Only once a design is finalized/approved do we take out p/n's and copy or save the parts into the Production Vault.
We...
I think you're right, fcsuper, it's probably a corrupted file.
Because of this one template that is giving me fits, I assumed that how new views were brought in was somehow imbedded into each template (as in it was some sort of Document Property).
But to test it out, I just switched my system...
I understand how to save out a template. What I can't figure out is how to have a new view come in with hidden lines visible.
Under System Options -> Drawings -> Display Style, I have and have always had "Hidden Lines Visible" checked. There is something else driving this partcular document...
CorBlimeyLimey, I appreciate the response, but that's not what I was asking about. I am unable to get the settings the way I want them.
Timelord, My first thought was that setting, but it is only one template that is giving me the undesired result. A system option would be a global setting...
We have a number of drawing templates at my company. On every one of them, new views that are brought in come in as "Hidden Lines Visible". Just recently (somebody was probably messing with my templates), on just one of our templates, all new views come in with "Hidden Lines Removed".
I would...
I would do as CorBlimeyLimey suggested, but if you don't like to do that or to do SmartMates for any reason:
What might help you a little is the Multi-Mate tool - added in 2007. First add all the PEMs you need (quick by holding CTRL and draging and dropping the number you need from the feature...
Jamaz17, try making sure your sketch plane is normal to your computer monitor before selecting the origin inside a sketch. That always solves that issue for me.
I've done manxJim's work-around a number of times.
We've also used another work-around, with good results, but it doesn't always work: Click in the view, then switch that view to wireframe and then back to what it was.
Barely anyone on here would know the answer to the question. The only people that would are the people who have the position or have at least received an offer for the position. Not too many people here fit that description.
And most people don't share their salaries with their friends, nor...
handleman, I like your explanation and suggestion. Star for you.
I know for me, this happens alot more on very complex assemblies, and in the cases I can picture in my head, your explanation would make alot of sense. Unfortunately, the more complex the models, the harder it would be to...
This happens to me all the time. Usually happens with either dimensions as you described or with tangent lines (curve is tangent to another line. change something unrelated and that curve "flips" 180 degrees so it is still tangent to the line, but in the wrong direction).
This is the single...
We very rarely show hardware. There is just too much work to do here, and not enough engineers to spend the time required to insert all the hardware.
We usually start an empty excel table in the drawing, make it the same size as our BOM, stick it underneath the BOM, then put the hardware on...
Here's a little more info from SolidWorks:

If you click on the data sheet, the 2nd and 3rd pictures are directly from traditional Conisio. Don't know how long it will be before they start selling this commercially...
sbmathias, there's nothing you can do about this. This has been an issue as long as I can remember. The best solution if you can't switch to decimals is to switch your font to Arial. It's the best font (trust me, I've tried them all), but it's still not great.
I have been submitting...
