    Hydraulics design for automatics

Thanks for that. Has anybody used AMeSIM (LMS Imagine).

    Hydraulics design for automatics

Dear all I am interested in your tips for using any commercial modelling tools for hydralics for automatic transmissions? any ideas?

DC permanent magnet torque and armature current charateristics

It is a brushless motor with torque constant of 2Nm/amp and Kv about 182V/1000rpm. Now I want to model the motor in simulink and I wonder conventional electrical/mechanical equations for a dc motor would not be applicable. Clyde, You mentioned that increase in back emf will reduce the current...

DC permanent magnet torque and armature current charateristics

Does anybody know why DC Permanent magnet motors have constant torque and then drop down torque for high speeds. Is it due to PWM?? On the other hand conventional motors just show a drop down torque/current defined by no-load and full load points.

    AMT gear shift strategy

What typical noise/vibrations problems you would expect in order to achieve seamless powerflow specially in the context of autoshift? I am thinking of actuator speed for shift and force influence?

    AMT gear shift strategy

I sometime think what was engineering world like before the arrival of internet!!! Greg and GMIracing thanks for that. What is the physical meaning of tip in clunks and tip out cluncks on AMT?

    AMT gear shift strategy

Thanks all Greglocock ,When you say resistance curve then you mean vehicle forward acceleration in each gear? What parameters will define the downshift map other than braking? When you say drivability do you mean torque management or gear shift quality?

    AMT gear shift strategy

I am working on 5 speed AMT shifting strategy.Do you think that the transmission should shift the gear at a vehicle speed where the driver can feel the maximum forward acceleration in each gear( ie max torque at the wheels). If not then what should be the best shift points both from performance...

    Transmission Trends

Very interesting!Specially GMIracing for putting a flavour on the discussion? What is technical benefit of DSG over AMT.The effeciencies suppose to be similar? Is it fuel consumption or comfort? Why is DSG gaining more popularity than AMT even though the cost is but on the high side?

    Transmission Trends

Useful comments What I have noticed is that DSG is becoming emerging technology in Europe rapidly specially vehicles on VW platform engines. Is that same in North America? What about Japan and Asia? Can CVT compete against DSG? What is the future of conventional Automatics?

    Transmission Trends

Dear all transmission experts Where do you see the emerging gearboxes like DSG,AMT,CVT , conventional Manual and Auto in the next five years for passenger cars. Who will be leading the market and why? What are the factors that are controlling this? Does anyone know which one is more...

    Crank/valve train model

One off. As I said earlier this is purely a learning exercise.I have intentions to use k-series engine as its block and lining is generic for higher displacement engine. Any different ideas are welcome.

    Crank/valve train model

Thanks facty for the in depth info. This is a effectively a learning exercise where I want to improve the performance an existing four stroke engine 1600cc by altering the geometry while keeping the number of carry over parts as minimum as possible . Hence as you suggested 1d tool will be used...

    Crank/valve train model

Facty, What are your thoughts in most likely components which will need modifications?

    Crank/valve train model

SomtingGuy thanks for your valueable links. Reading at the artical explains that hydrodynamic forces will increase in mycase and the most likely modified candidate for me will be bearings, crank and maybe piston.I suppose valvetrain would not be effected.Any ideas. Thanks for the the...

    Crank/valve train model

I am looking at increasing the displacement of an existing petrol engine with the minimum number of parts modification, obviously want to get confidence from CAE front. Any ideas on which components are the most likely candidate to be replaced or modified and what are the economical codes to go for.

    Crank/valve train model

Is it good idea to look at cranktrain and valve train in assembly or looking at in isolation will produce the same results. What does FEAD dynamics produce in ADAMS. Does it mean you cannot do coupled (crank/block)analysis within ADAMS.

    Crank/valve train model

I have seen another one called AVL Exite. Does anybody use these tools in the forum?

    Crank/valve train model

All What are the industry standard softwares for crank/valve train modelling for automotive engines? Has anybody evaluated these tools? What are the limitations on these??
