    Overall Building Quantities

Depends on building type, but Jed's method works. RSmeans or Walkers might have some more specifics or psf based quantities.

    wood post splits

    Another vote: don't worry.

    Tie rods spacing Form work

Best to get some help from a formwork/accessory supplier. Or read up on ACI publications. Formwork for Concrete is a good place to start. You need to get educated on this prior to making decisions like this. For example, 0.5m spacing of 2x4's won't work. You are looking for an answer, not guidance.

    Concrete Time for Curing

Agree with comments. Also, you can check with Ready Mix supplier for a '72 hour mix'. They can usually provide a concrete with very accelerated strength gains. Depends on what you want to spend and how critical your timeline is. May be worth the extra money.

    3" copper water pipe

Try Noble Trade or Emco or Wolseley. All have numerous locations in GTA/southern Ontario.

    Truss tags??

    Heel? Heck, sounds like wood.

Requirements for Weld Inspection of Pedestrian Steel Bridge

First step: is the fabricator certified? I assume this was built in a shop and transported. Second step: Independent testing agency may guide you in inspection and testing as per performance specs.

    4-axle front discharge ready-mix truck

Cracked wall or not, the truck should not have been that close. And the wall certainly is not capable, under the circumstances, to hold the truck or the lateral load imposed. The truck ending up in the basement puts responsibility, some or all, at the slab contractor or whoever directed the...

    Concrete honeycombing and bug holes

Another source is the 'position' statements by the ASCC (American Society of Concrete Contractors.

Supporting HDPE Pipe accross a trench

You can do as VT or Jed have suggested. Another option, use the beam you mention as a saddle and then have a proper designed beam under it, conventionally placed(forming a Tee so to speak). You could then, for efficiency use pieces for the saddle (instead of whole length) if you are comfortable...

    Trail Bridge Design

Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, CAN/CSA-S6-06. You will have to search through for info on pedestrian bridges.

    Time Limit Between Concrete Placements

Good points; nothing significant to add except it may depend somewhat on application. Say you are pouring a slab for a basement versus a bridge slab or structural elevated slab.

    toupet tile slab

I believe there are 8" and 6" units. The 8" are a full tile and the 6" is a 'bottom' where the concrete joist is. On a reinforcing project last year we 'discovered' a 14" spacing c-c. This sounds familiar. Have a close look from underneath if you can. Top surface probably has a 2" topping as...

    Steel Deck on Wood Joists

Actually I saw this last week. Stopped at a gas station and the cashier/store/coffee building had steel deck on a unique wood/steel tube truss system. The joists consisted of top and bottom wood chords (2x4 I believe) and tubes (steel?)for diagonals (looked like they were clinched and bolted at...

    Grout Mix for Pump Primer

As a alternate, they now use a pail of lubricant. Grout can be used (usually they order a cubic metre or yard) which should be wasted or thoroughly mixed with concrete (doubtful).

    New PE Needs Advice

On drawings, do you not submit the applicable codes being used? If the spec sheet has not been changed, then I am surprised no one has caught it at the City. This may be your approach with the 'senior' guy. If the codes have been updated, why are they being ignored or not used?

    Repour footings

A little more information. Is this in a frost prone area? I assume that you mean a 1300mm deep trench, how wide? What are the soils like? Often a footing/wall is trenched and poured to a certain depth (usually soil is clay or stable to allow this method of unshored trench), then the top foot or...

Low strength concrete in suspended slab

I think that the documents, ie. concrete delivery tickets are needed as a start, for one. The question is : was the contractor negligent by ordering an inferior quality, or tampering, or was the concrete ready-mix supplier responsible? The 7% air for a interior suspended slab is a question . In...

    Beam Design Question

Sometimes, a simplified method is a good check! You answered it.
