MintJulep - agree completely. I even have people in house that can do this for me but they are either busy, translation duties are not in their job description and it would take too much time. A quick turn around is important and the machine translation usually gives us enough information to...
I am currently in need of a PC based language translator. I have a large number of Word documents that are in Chinese that need to be translated to English. The free web based translators (like Google translate) are not an option due to the large volume of documents, pain with the cut and paste...
Trying to figure out if anyone publishes design information on extrude and tap threaded hole forming (i.e. flowdrill). I'm mostly interested in knowing what size, amount of threads etc. that the extrusion will have based on material thickness and thread size. Any help would be appreciated.
Hopefully this is not an off the wall question, I come from a background of specifying hardware by using a MIL-Spec and dash number to describe exactly the part I want. For example, in the old days I would call out MS51957-3 and I knew I was going to get a “Screw, Machine, Pan Head, 2-56 x...
Hi All,
I posted on the numerical keypad problem back in October and unfortunately do not have any answers to the problem. I did note at the time that the number pad worked in limited instances. See below.
"The other thing we have noticed is that the keyboard number pad doesn't work in most...
Shadowspawn, in my most recent instance, a fillet was added to the model. When switching back to the drawing, most of the dimensions were gone, including dimensions that were not associated with the area where the fillet was added.

We have recently upgraded to NX5 and have a few weird problems.
When creating drawings (start blank part - insert part) everything seems to work fine and we are able to create the drawing. If we go back to the model and make an update to the part we lose most if not all dimensions in the...
Does anyone know of a company that can perform some dyno testing per SAE J1634 (Fuel Economy testing) in the Indianapolis area? Or within a few hundred miles of Indianapolis. Any information is appreciated.

I appreciate the time everyone took to reply. Based on the information you had, I have asked my IT department to try to get us some Space Navigators. The Space Pilot would have been pushing my luck way too far.

What is everyone using? Can I hear some comments about your hardware? Anyone using current 3DConnexion products?
Spacetraveler, Spaceexplorer, Spacepilot etc..
I posted a couple of weeks ago about our Spaceballs not being compatable with Win 64 (Serial connection problem) and have come to the...
ewh, I appreciate the reply. Are you using the USB SpaceBalls? We have the Serial Connector on ours and can't get them to work even with the old drivers.

Is anyone using a 3DConnexion Spaceball 5000 with NX5/Windows XP 64Bit machine? We acquired new workstations and just found out that we can't get the Spaceballs to work. It doesn't look like there are any drivers for use with XP 64Bit from 3DConnexion. Anyone know of a workaround? I hate the...
This is a minor annoyance that has finally bothered me to the point of asking for some tips.
When using the "Open Part File" dialog window, all the files are shown in "list" format (see view menu button). I would like the files to be displayed in "detailed" format so I can sort the files by...
The license borrow feature would have been great for my application. My company is unfortunately out of contract with UGS on the maintenance end. I could not get them to see why continuing the maintenace contract was worth the money. I suspect they will regret that decision down the road. I...
I am currently using NX3 and have a question regarding using a VPN to connect to the UG License Server. Once the VPN is established and I launch NX3, what will happen if the connection is lost? Will NX3 continue to run? Or will it die like Teamcenter does at the office if the network connection...
Need advice on how to accomplish a tweak to an assembly view in drafting. I have an assembly which is basically a stack of aluminum sheets with an attached foam backing. The aluminum extends past the foam backing on two of the edges. The stack consists of 10 or more layers and then all the...
Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket OBD II diagnostic software? I'm interested in something I can run on a laptop computer, comes with the cables etc. I found mOByDic (interesting name) ver 4.03 from Digimoto. Anyone have comments about these products?

I appreciate the quick responses from everyone. Nut and Washer Assemblies and Captive Washers seem to work much better as a search term. Kenneth, you sent the link to the exact part I need - I really appreciate that!

I'm having trouble locating a supplier of swivel hex nuts (metric). I've been all over the net, Thomas Register etc. today and have struck out (Although I did find inch parts at McMaster-Carr). Maybe I'm using the wrong name. The part I need is a hex nut with an attached washer that rotates...
Kadego,
In drafting, open the annotation editor and make sure the GDT symbols tab is selected. Along the bottom row you'll see datum letters A through F. Select the needed letter, choose the placement leader type from Annotation Placement window and place the datum. Hope this helps.
