No, these flanges are part of the steel ducting system used to recover off gas from the steel furnace. The dimensions are in the range of 1500x 1700 to 2400 square. The ducting is of 12 mm plate and the proposed flange thickness is 22mm with full face gaskets.
Hi I am looking at finding a standard that could be used for design of an atmospheric process vessel (tank) for SG>1 toxic/corrosive products. The vessel diameter is 3m or less and will be supported on four legs.
I am looking at completing a flange design for a 2400mm square flue gas duct in a steel mill. Since it is not a circular flange type I can not use BPVC Section VIII Appendix 2 design criteria. Can any one shed light on if there is a design standard for such flange design?
Want to find out the best way to establish a stress intensity factor (SIF) for a butt weld join (BW) that was completed with a unfused root face about 1.6mm (1/16").
RMW, The service I am looking for is lime rock feed to the kiln. The rocks or chips are about 10mm x 20mm x 5mm in size (random sizes). So my concern is of they will get jam in the rorary feeder?
Any comments
Can any body help with finding an isolation valve for a lime chip feeder duct attached to the kiln? Issue is to minimize trap air going into the kiln and the loss of vacuum in the kiln.

Hi Guys, Sorry for not replying. OK the tank I am looking at needs a head room of 1.5m, we are planning to have a 15 deg cone bottom (mainly for self draining requirement). The shell T-T is about 6.5m. Earlier comments by hdw to limit legged tanks to 1m Dia, any idea how this limit came from, as...
Thanks JStephen, I am located in New Zealand. I have copy of API650/620. Also AS1692 is used in NZ for flammable liquid tanks with SG<1. The contents of the product I am looking at is SG>1 and falls in to corrosive product.

Hi,
I am after some information on a good engineering practice document that could be used for shipload out system piping system design for the transfer line between the Wharf and storage tank located inland. Any body know about a link to such information site? Or happy to communicate with me on...
Hi,
I am looking at issues with oxygen compressor building. Recently came a across thsi problem:
The issue is the comp building is naturally ventilated via the roof apex opening (600 wide runs along the building roof). The interstage PSV and discharge PSV tail piping vents within the building...

Hi Deics, Thanks for your feedback. As you know due to process licensor confidentiality issues I haven’t contacted Stamicarbon. By the way our process licensor is not Stamicarbon. Therefore I would appreciate to chat with you or communicate via email. My email address is...
Standweld,
Yes I agree. That is why I am doing this review as it is crazy to see some companies do specify that PWHT of anhyrous ammonia service lines but then do agree to waiver the PWHT of weld joints closer to I/V's (in order to protect the valve been damaged during the heat cycle).
DEANC & unclesyd thanks for the replies. I agree there is a lot of SCC related papers published on storage vessel. But todate I have not found any on that relate to process plant piping systems.
Currently I am reviewing the need for PWHT of anhydrous ammonia and ammine piping systems as a service requirement. Therefore I would greatly appreciate your feedback to following questions:
1. Is it the best industry practice to heat treat weld joints in anhydrous ammonia & ammine process pipe...
Hi,
Would like to communicate with other Urea plant engineers who have seen Intergranular corrosion (and weld pitting attack) problems related to Sandvik 2RE69 (25Cr/22Ni/2Mo Urea Grade Stainless Steel) austenitic SS material used as corrosion protection liner in High-pressure urea synthesis...
Hi, I work in a ammonia-urea plant and our NH3 stage is done in pressurised vessels. The vessels were design and fabricated to BS5500 in 1981 and have been in service since 1982. The vessels were manufactured using BS1501-224-32A-RT (with spherical dish heads) and all weld joints were post
weld...
