Thanks for your reply. Can you describe your technique of sections through curves some more.
After outputting the smapled points, I tried a through points surface, which works relatively good. However, it uses every point which makes for a rough surface.

You can create a boundary plane with the sectional curves, however, this is cumbersome when you need to check cross sectional area at a lot of locations. Section Inertia is like an automated way of doing it.

Until now I always thought Studio Splines inside the Sketcher were quite limited and non-associative and could not understand why the feature behaved differently to outside Sketcher tool. That helps alot.
