I can see some "hand wringing" over the single repair patch creating a different loadpath over the skin splice, and how some may want to repeat the fuselage testing to account for this. But I'd've thought that this additional loadpath over the fuselage splice makes it more effective (and I hear...
Opinions are like ...
If I had a to patch over a splice strap, I would probably (depending on specifics blah, blah, blah ...) combine the splice strap into the repair dbr ...
cut out the damage (or cancer as I'll often call it),
rebuild frames and stringers,
then add a large repair dblr over...
sorry, no ... as I don't know anything about what you are doing.
Is "eclipse 100" a language, like Python ?
You "wrote the code" ... is this "code" a specific problem solving or a more generalised code ??
Is there no one there who can help, a thesis supervisor ??
What support do you have ...
I assume you don't have a user manual, nor anyone who has used this s/ware ?
have you run a tutorial problem ? It is obvious that you have really confused it !
A google search "eclipse 100 manual" returned a bunch of hits which looked applicable ??
YT is often a good source ...
verifying to what sort of level ? Just running s/ware isn't enough unless it's something like NASTRAN where there is a lot of knowledge and experience. Simple free FEA is IMO something to be avoided, or at least plan on doing a bunch of work validating the s/ware, and control of the s/ware...
Whilst I understand the value of load testing, I agree with Flotsam. Setting up a test would be hard enough, and then what happens if the test fails ?? And this is a low tech residential project (yes?) rather than a high tech commercial project.
my 2c ... this looks pretty shite to me (but...
i was referring to this pic (from reply 19) ...
... which I read as 6.8 kN axial load in one member and 3.2kN shear in the other, so the members have bending stiffness (to support shear loads) ...
and the FB looks "off" ... I see the 3.2 kN creating an unbalanced moment about the load, and...
AME ... "This is not a degree, but a licensed course focused on certifying aircraft for flight." not as I understand it ... an AME license is required for someone doing maintenance on a plane. Companies making planes (or modifying them) usually use an AME license as a "ticket through the door"...
you want the op2 or f04 files.
but why are you extracting results from the output, rather than using a post-processor (like FeMap or PATRAN) ?
but you can use the predictability of the f06 to find text strings and count lines to the number of interest (what I did some 30 years ago before...
yeah, but ... you've modelled the spokes as beams, and the lateral one is picking up a lot of load. If axial rods then the result would be "different" (for the load given it would all be reacted by the aligned spoke; for different loads each spoke would react the component load).
agreed, all required inspections to "verify the serviceability and operational integrity of the main landing gear" as a complete system (ie the MLG itself and the on-aircraft components of the MLG system) are defined (and prescribed) by the AMM. If you think there is something missing, then you...
is this a single element ? or 1000 ??
if it is a single element, then you'll need to break it into 5 quite nasty shaped elements.
if 1000, then nodes already exist where needed so "NP".
maybe worry about things not being perfectly aligned ? But then the buckling is based on a single bay length, so maybe this isn't something to worry about ?
