...should be placed at 40m of depth with an active section of about 19 m the total number is about 44 with a soil resistivity supposed to be 20 ohm *m with an anode voltage not greater than 18V.
My question are:
1- this system is ok or have I expect some problems to be considered in the design...
Dear allI have a question regarding the welding of unequal wall thicknesses for butt welding fittings in accordance to the ASME B31.3.
As I have verified for pipes and fittings ASME B31.8 and B31.4 permitt the welding of unequal wall thicknesses only if the max walll thickness is not higher...
dear sirs,
thanks for your responses and evaluations.
About the possible corrosion mechanisms I want to underline the fact that I don't have Oxygen inside the Reservoir as indicated by Client with associated water analisys.
Valve is a GATE type and only trim is in AISI 316 while body is...
Dear all I have had a conversation with one of my client about AISI 316 and it's resistance to pitting corrosion and intergranular attack.
My situation is the following, I have selected materials for an Emergency Shout Down valve sited near a well-head where the reservoir is constituted by gas...
Dear Steve,
many thanks for your reply. Client have decided for PP coating but anyway I will follow your advice principally for my knowledge.
I have another question for you, I have seen on ASTM for Pipe material A790 Grade S31803 that pipes, obviously, shall be fournisced in pickled...
Dear all,
is it right to coat an Underground Pipeline in duplesx material type S31803? I'm doing a project in Algeria for a gatering system to construct so the soil is prevalently constituted by sand. I suppose that corrosion mechansms could be done by differencial aeration or electrolites...
Ok thanks,
i have read in an accurate way the peabody book and also Nace RP 572 and now i can say that water is necessary to reduce soil resistivity (as exoplainde from you before) infact during the summer season could be necessary to inroduce water in the well.
thanks a lot for your replies...
ok thanks to all for responses,
but let me other 2 questions
1- is real that tipically deep groundbeds are washed in order to decrease the resistivity but i know also (as i understand oon NACE RP 572)that if water goes into the vent pipe, gases developed by anodic reactions could not be vented...
Hi to all,
I'm studing a cathodic protection system done by others, in which is considered the use of an impressed current system with deepwell groundbed with Fe-Si anodes to reach a 100 ohm per metyer.
Now constructor say that to a depth of 5 m he have found water and wants to know if is...
hi
a direct question, what is the difference between API 6D and API 600 for gate valves?
It is possible, that the only difference is due to the fact that API 6D shall be referred only to Pipeline Valves?
If the response is negative, is it possible that one code is more restrictive than the...
Dear all
I have a question about best solution to be done for pumps material selection for brackish water.
The total content of clorine ions in the water is about 1660 ppm, PH 7-8, 7000 ppm of CaCO3 and is saturated in oxygen.
According to API 610 matertials suitables for water services...
Hi to all,
I'm preparing a Data Sheet for an Amine Regeneration Column. As i have studied and known the Amine process is very corrosive principally for two effects :
1- CO2 Corrosion;
2- Second Amine corrosion due to the product formed with CO2 and H2S (if present - in my case i have only...
Hi to all,
I'm still evaluating the use of an internal lining on a Flash Drum used in an amine Treatment Plant.
It is to underline that this plant is very small due to the fact that it is a part of a Process Training Plant.
I have found a Belzona Product 1391 a Ceramic HT (a two component...
Hi Bernoullies,
thanks for your explanation. I have found more info about "retainerless" on web. On API 594 valves droawings are all with the retainers passing through the valve body.
Many thanks Vincenzo
hi to all,
i have a question regarding Chack valves, what means for a check valve the term "retainer less design"?
thanks for all
best regards
Vincenzo Saviello
Hi Cory,
Thanks for your help/explanation i want to attach a good document that i have found on web about Nace Stud Bolts Classes and API requirements in wich it is clear when the L7M or 7M is necessary instead L7 or 7 grades.
Nace after 1997 had eliminated the classes and now speaks only...
hi, to all.
I'm interested to know if there are differencies between ASTM A320-L7M and L7.I'm selecting bolts and nuts for Low Temp Valves. About their differencies i have found that L7 are mechanically better than L7M and also that L7M are in accordance to NACE requiremnts. Tis means that L7M...
Hi i'm vincenzo a material engineer and i'm finding systems for two sealines:
- the first is 10"
- the second 12".
I'm Trying to find some insulating system used for sealines as single pipe configuration.
I have found also some info about five layer system done by the industry socotherm...
Hi to all,
I have a question for materials based on Nikel Alloys.
I have to select a nikel alloy to construct bellows (thermal expansion joint) and i found that there are two different type of Inconel 625:
- grade 2 as per ASTM A443 (hot worked in sheets;
- 626 lcf (worked in special condition...
