I work for a utility. We use a spreadsheet for meter design, no built in functionality just formatting. With our current process, the design sheet flows in this order: Marketing, Engineering, Measurement, Procurement, Operations, Billing/Collections. Currently, we have experienced some problems...
Has anyone ever used XPSWMM to create flood maps? I have an urban area (mostly closed conduits) and have been asked to create flood maps. I have created a DTM in SWMM but have been unsuccessful in displaying the flooding extents. Any ideas?
I have a XPSWMM model of a downtown watershed which has been calibrated. My next task is to create a flood map. Does anyone have any tips on where to go to get started? How can I export the relevant information from XPSWMM and take it to GIS in a format I can use? Will GIS then be able to help...
We paid about $14k for ours last year in Georgia. We have a 42" mound (60x100 flat surface with 4:1 slopes) in addition to a septic tank and pump.
FWIW
We currently are using XPSWMM and from what I remember SWMM is based on TR20. A condensed version of TR20 is TR55 (several key assumptions are made and applied). This is typically what we use to calculate Tc. Sheet flow (overland) is restricted to a maximum of 100 ft in TR55. The flow is then...
I am running a HEC-RAS model of two bridges at one crossing and RAS will not calculate scour in this scenario. So I have taken my sections and put a vertical wall at the stagnation point and removed one bridge from the geometry. I then adjust the flow for the single bridge and try to run a scour...
Which books would you recommend for getting involved in water distribution system design and/or sewerage design? I have started a new position at my firm and am looking for some background reading.
Thanks,
I am new to HEC-RAS and from what I have read here, I can use Civil 3D to export cross-sections (created from sample lines/alignments). Is this a tool that is included with Civil 3D or is it an additional download (I have a subscription to 3D)? Any hints etc. that you know of that might help me...
I found it. The problem had to do with the WSPRO analysis being run for the bridges. I copied the cross section I had between the bridges and moved it over a foot to give two sections between the bridges and it worked fine.
Thanks,
I have a HEC-RAS model for a stream crossing a proposed Interstate (parallel bridges). As it happens the stream is divided under the upstream bridge and comes together between the two parallel structures. By necessity the upstream bridge will need to be larger than the downstream bridge to...
