IMG_8469.jpegDoes anyone have an FDC ordinance more detailed than the IFC that provides details of the sign regarding Color, Size, Lettering, etc? We have a new building that installed a FDC sign see photo. Trying to have a local ordinance that specifically says must say FDC, be red with white background, X by X size etc. I believe this is a NFPA symbol for a FDC. In reviewing 1000’s of FDC signs all over the USA I never came across this symbol on for a FDC. Trying not to recreate the wheel.

Thanks
Tom

I saw that sign last week either in Arlington Virginia or DC.

Plus the Fdc shown has the collar!!!

Yea it does, put not visible from the street.

You just need to work up an ordinance/ policy that works for your dept.

You never know where you will find a fdc.

Pre plan is nice.

Plus maybe research how often your dept has pumped into an fdc, say over the last ten years. To me if they are augmenting just the sprinkler system,,,, there is more than likely bigger problems.

CD,

I am the PrePlan person for the FD. We are 100% volunteer department, cover 26 sq. miles, run about 1,700 fire calls a year. We have many occupancies from chemical plants, warehouses, hotels, hospitals, a University with 20K students, a downtown from the 1790’s, townhouses, high rises, etc. We are in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We have connected to a few FDC’s a year….lol.

Ok well

Sounds like job security

See NFPA 170 Standard for Fire Safety and Emergency Symbols

The sign in the OP post
"Fire Department Automatic Sprinkler Connection, Siamese"
Example https://www.mysafetysign.com/fire-exit-signs/nfpa-170-fire-signs/sku-s-5589
However an ordnance will trump a standard. Signs with the letters "FDC" are all I see in my Virginia location. The sign is usually mounted to the connection riser pipe.
