In an asphalt storage tank, the discharge nozzle to the tank is 25 cm (10 inches). How far should the pipe extend into the tank to prevent sudden shocks and heat damage to the tank wall? If anyone knows of any standards I can read about this, it would be very helpful.
Given the viscosity of asphalt, its better to set up a feed spreader to cover the cross section of the tank. This will also improve mixing and reduce the time for homogenisation.
