    Mate Curve to a Point

Hello all, The "What's New" in SW2007 says that it is possible to mate a curve to a point. Has anyone tried this? The illustration shows a point on a cube and a helix, but Solidworks will not accept the helix in my model, only the point of the other part. Yanceman SW2007 SP2.0

    Mate button not working

In an exploded view, you can click on the mate icon, but when you do, the exploded view collapses. If you cancel the mate feature manager, the assembly returns to its exploded state. Yanceman

    Drawing Gremlin...???

Dutch, If you reinstall, turn off virus protection prior to install. It can cause unexpected problems with SW. Yanceman

    skewing in loft feature

Have you tried adjusting the location of the alignment dots? I'm not sure of that is the proper term, but it appears that the blue dot in the lower right sketch profile of your image needs to shift right a little. View your part normal to that sketch and adjust both sketch dots to the same area...

    PDMWorks organization?

We use a 5-digit (non-intelligent) part numbering scheme and our PDM folders hold 100 drawing each: 10000 10100 10200 ...and so on. Drawings are sorted by part number, so part and assembly drawings are mixed together. Searches are easy as well. Model files are in a separate set of project...

    Flat Patterns in SolidWorks

Berkshire, Your method is exactly what we did here. Take a piece of pre-measured stock, put a 90° bend in it, take measurements again, etc... Our material thickness range is minimal, so one setting for all thicknesses works. The machine screw hole clearances will more than make up for a couple...

    Flat Patterns in SolidWorks

Majora, I use SW to make sheetmetal formed and blank parts daily. I use a K-factor of .5 and a bend radius of .015". I add a derived configuration of the formed part for my blank. I select "Flange Outside" for the flange position selection when adding edge flanges. The guys who run the press...

Things that drive me nuts ...

Ctopher: Yes, I think I am due for another enhancement request. They haven't heard from me in a while :) Stephan: Hopefully, in another few years when we are all on 64 bit processors, the file comparison won't slow us down. Handleman: Create a layer on your drawing template that has the grid...

Things that drive me nuts ...

Jacek has a good one. I hate the same issue. Bring up a current drawing from the vault (PDM) and print it, then get prompted to save changes. Very aggravating. One of the things I hate the most is getting a vague error message when attempting to create a feature. The message neither helps me...

College setting: how much faster to learn & use is SW v. ProE?

Heckler, There you have the advantage. I've used SW for 5 years, but my info on Pro-E is all second hand. Also, by combining features into folders in the feature manager keeps my complex models looking clean. It is not until you open the folders within the feature manager that you see all the...

College setting: how much faster to learn & use is SW v. ProE?

Dave, I have been teaching Solidworks as a side job at Corporate College in the Cleveland Ohio area and have found that my students get a very good basic understanding of the functionality of Solidworks in the 32 hours of training of the level one class. Most of my students are currently...
