for these applications I prefer Promax
http://www.bre.com/ProMax-Main.aspx
BRE people provides all the required technical assistance (if you post here I must suppose that Aspen is not helping)
For a real application (not a student work) technical assistance and support has a value.
sure, with the actual prices for a hysys software license one has to ask on newsgroups instead to follow a introductory course :-(
having said that, have you considered to ask aspen technical assistance ?
A) POLITELY INFORM THE BOTTLES ABOUT THE VALUES CALCULATED BY YOUR SIMULATOR
B) MAKE SURE THE BOTTLES INTEND TO WORK (AS USUALLY DO IN MOST PLANTS) EVEN AGAINST THE OPINION OF AN EXPENSIVE SOFTWARE...
C) IN CASE OF DOUBTS ASK AN EXPERT HERE AND GET KNOWLEDGE ABOUT BASIC THERMODYNAMICS AND HEAT...
there are many good tools available, for a general purpose software you may start from
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_chemical_process_simulators
you should define you own areas of application then select the most suitable software keeping in account required features, your budget...
adhy83, do not forget this is a forum for engineers which (possibly) wish to understand the methods they use in order to explain the results.
The suggestion to purchase a simulator to verify a formula could appear, at least, exaggerate.
