Is it that easy to import pro-e into 3d studio max ?

You mentioned that reassembling and setting up in 3dsmax in effect doubles your job time. I suppose you still experience that... Now if only Pro/E could do proper rendering....

Pro-Engineer into 3dStudio, Round things are square !

I had the same thing with a cylinder, I just increased the angle in the import settings in 3ds Max which sorted it out

G1Design, do you now do your actual rendering in 3ds Max after converting with Polytrans? Or do you use Okino's Nugraf? I checked the trial version of Nugraf but it seems to have a funny interface, also not sure if you can map decals in Nugraf etc.

    rendering problems. help!!!

I seemed to sort out the smoothing problem in 3ds max by increasing the angle when importing STL file into max Thanks

    Pro Photorender ?, Photoworks?, 3dmax ? etc.

Hi David how is the rendering going? I'm in the same position as you, starting out on rendering after using Pro/E for quite a while. Can anyone tell me where to find good tutorials on mapping graphics onto imported models in 3ds max? Is there any other way than manually mapping UV co-ordinates...

    rendering problems. help!!!

Hi TXS I've played around with the chord height etc when exporting a STL file in Pro/E on a current project. 3ds Max seems to smooth everything OK except for a cylinder (round rube) where it leaves the triangles unsmoothed. Any ideas? Thanks
