Deck Pier/ Column Footings (Small Loads)- Confused myself completely (theory/ practical discussion)

Thank you for your response here. I have done extensive investigation at this point. Most of this is all for educational purposes and better understanding even though I don’t do structural for a living. I believe I found that 1” min tie spacing and max 6” tie spacing are my code limits if I...

Deck Pier/ Column Footings (Small Loads)- Confused myself completely (theory/ practical discussion)

Thank you. I do have both of these. I am using them as a cross reference to make sure I don’t do something stupid in any of my calcs. Hoping to eliminate some of the conservative approaches that are discussed in the commentary of dca6. Also rebar intricacies are not discussed.

ASCE 7-05 Wind Load- Needing a little beginner help/ explanation

Ron, I agree with you. 7-05 is probably not the addition I should be using (should be using the newer one)-- I have it also but haven't checked to see if the same statements are in it. This is really an educational process for me at the moment. Not something I will have to turn to the cities...

Hi all, And thanks in advance for any help you guys can shed on my question. I believe it is an elementary but hopefully I can explain it thoroughly. So I am working on a carport structure. It has a gable roof with dimension of 30' perpendicular to ridge and 18' parallel to ridge. I have...
