    UPPER COLUMN REQUIRES MORE STEEL AREA THAN THE LOWER COLUMN

    Can anybody send me a sample design using etabs. I thought bottom reinforcement requires more steel area as they carry the load above them, (Pu). And in my experience in construction industry, I always observed that lower floors has more rebar compare to the above columns.

    I just use the load combination of 1.4DL and 1.7LL. then again the resulting required area of bar at upper column is 5000mm2, the lower part is 900mm2 only. help me with this problem pls .
