saving a jt file in creo

The translator that allows you to create JT files requires a separate license in Creo. It's expensive but available from your Creo representative.

Creating a playable WAV file from data or equation input

I'm looking for a means to create a playable *.WAV file from either some sort of data list or equation. I'd like to combine and create a data list of combined sine waves together (creating a sawtooth, triangular, or sauare waves) then listen to the resulting noise from the data list (using...

Living Hinge -- Best Practices in Solid Edge

I'd like to show a one piece plastic component that has a living hinge. What might be the a good method to construct the CAD model that will allow me to illustrate the part in both the open and closed positions. Need some general hints regarding model construction.

Fire Testing - Where to begin in becoming an expert

You might contact Underwriters Laboratories. A long time ago I toured a test facitility run by UL where they did a lot of fire testing of household products. See if you can find someone there that could give you direction. ... or for the outdoors person, contact the San Dimas Techology and...

    Excel Flowrates through Pipe calcs?

Not an excel spreadsheet but a program called 'SF Pressure Drop 7.0' available from Software-Factory. It is free to try and costs a little over $100 (US. Program was made by Nobert Schmitz (Germany). Allows pipe expansions, contractions, etc. Allows elements to be ganged together and estimate...

Simulation Software for Calculating Muffler Acoustics

Has anyone had experiences calculating insertion loss or transmission loss of mufflers and silencers using comercial software packages? Presently, we're looking at two different 'non-FEA' software packages. ADEM (sold in Europe mostly) and SIDLAB. Both are under $18,000. Any comments on either...

Looking for good reference on sheetmetal screws (and joint design.)

I think I'm looking more for articles, books, periodicals, etc., about small self threading screws or references that give detail information about assembly practices for using self threading sheetmetal screws.

Looking for good reference on sheetmetal screws (and joint design.)

There are a lot of technical resources around for bolt design. However, I don't seem to find a lot of similar technical resources for information about sheetmetal screws and joint design. Most books simply describe the threads/tips and heads that are available, but don't go into any detail...

Elevated Properties of Steel and Stainless Steel

Thanks everyone First, I think that I've found enough information to satisfy my immediate needs. So thiank you. I had hoped to find an authoritavie resource or study that specifically address high temperature strength properties of sheetmetal type materials. Often, published high temperature...

Elevated Properties of Steel and Stainless Steel

Has anyone run across published physical property data for steel and/or stainless steel at high evevated temperatures? We're attempting to input steel property data into a FEA analysis for a muffler. Steel temperatures run in the 1000F neighborhood in these applications.

    Tube bending 304 stainless steel

Thanks I'd like to thank everyone. I've forwarded your responses to our tooling engineers in China with additional discussion. So far, we're still 'negotiating' with them.

    Tube bending 304 stainless steel

Replies First, our associated factory is in mainland China so direct communication is difficult. Engineering and factory responses are done through interpreters. We're evaluating, at this time to accept or not accept the job. I believe the engineering opinion is from our factory's engineering...

    Tube bending 304 stainless steel

The bend absolutely can be made but I don't know if special processes were used to make the prototypes. However, many thousands of these manifold assemblies need to be made each year so the bending process has to be somewhat production friendly.

    Tube bending 304 stainless steel

Our company has been asked to make an exhaust manifold assembly from 38.1 mm diameter(1.5 inch), 1.2 mm wall thickness, 304 stainless steel tubing. One of the require(!) bends is 123.5 degree bend on a 47.63mm centerline bend radius. Our tooling engineers tell us they cannot make the tubing...
