    Boiler Feed Pump Problem

I will have another look at the piping an let you know. Little more information. I am told the the pump was absolutely stopped. I have having the customer check and may sure we did not have any leaks in the seals on the pump or valves. This is one of 6 pumps and at least 3-4 others were...

    Boiler Feed Pump Problem

I have a customer who experianced the following which is something he does not want to repeat. Does anyone have an idea what caused this? The Pump is a 3GT I-R Boiler Feed Pump, Steam Turbine Driven, 240-257 deg F water from DA tank Pump was shut down and not turning but hot or at least warm...

High pressure CASING, low flow/head pumps?

There are some low flow high head pumps out there. The only concern I would have is coming back into the pump with 800 to 850 psi suction pressure. Take a look at Hydra-cell or Roto-Jet. These pumps will produce the discharge pressure however you will probably have go to a vented suction tank...

How to select the Vacuum for priming the centrifugal pump?

A lot of the pump manufacturers supply the complete system Gorman Rupp and Godwin supply packages with vacuum primers. You may also want to look at a Self Priming Pump. These are used alot in packaged lift stations for pumping sewage. The foot value will work however if a solid keeps the...

    NPSHa Vertical Turbine Pumps

Air entrainment defines a variety of conditions where the vapor bubbles are already in the liquid before it reaches the pump. When they arrive in the eye of the impeller, exactly the same thing happens as if they were created at that point. In other words, they are subjected to the increasing...

    NPSHa Vertical Turbine Pumps

Johnny is correct. Be sure your sump is designed properly. How the water comes into the sump can be very important. A water fall effect can cause air entrainment in your pumpage causing cavatation.

    Entrained Air Issue?

I have seen self priming pumps burn the belts off when running dry for extended periods of time. As the pump is running dry you are converting the mechanical energy into heat in the casting this liquid can start to build steam pressure in the casting. This is why Gorman Rupp started installing...
