Also there are old non supported options for importing iges and other files that seemed to work better. they are only accessible from hidden menu. I-deas tech support should be able to get you to them if you ask about them.
A better method would be to export a parasolid. I-deas can read this is too (its not an extra cost option). you may have to change the extension or manually select the file since i-deas will be looking for a file withe a .x_t or .x_b extension (text or binary).
I did not see the option for selecting tangent surfaces. I am aware Ansys has that feature. I will have to look closer.
As for what surface to apply loads to. I thought of that but used the interior surfaces so reports would look a little more understandable to the not so sharp. And because...
Is there an alternate way of selecting all the interior/exterior surfaces of model then manually selecting them? I know other fea packages would had ways of doing this. Boxing in helps a little but not to much when you have most of surfaces selected.
Ok, it sounds like it is not the second issue. I have not been using i-deas for some time so i don't recall what exactly you need to look for.
If i recall i think the message window or the dmadmin tool will tell u what files it is having issues with.
I think you have to delete the file on...
it's been ages, but GTAC can fix this.
it's either a move was not completed because something crashed when checking in or out. I library check with dmadmin tool can help you find and fix this. Don't hold me to this but i think deleting the chk out and library clean is what fixes this.
Or...
Are you sure that your IT guy understands what you need? I think I worked for the same company that you work for. I was VC66's manager for a while. 64bit windows 7 is the way to go. I would go with a i7 if you could 6 gig's of ram, or an i5 wire 6 or 8 gigs, depending on you what your IT guy...
Depending on how much data you have, I would suggest creating a new tdm on the network drive and doing the export and import route. for one it's safer and you can double check that everything moved over. and you can still work if the network tdm does not work for some reason.
Your longest wait...
Other direction to look into is the resellers. For the software that is still sold by resellers, like SW, use them for potential contacts and see if they would like to work with you too. Also try to team up with other looking to do them same thing, in case you get a lot of work that you can't...
The ideas TDM is looking for the files in a specific location and it is not finding them. In manage libraries you can look to see where it is looking for the file and what the file name is. From this you should be able to determine if its just the files are in the wrong place or if its a...
It can be done with the Content Migration Manager. It's free and really not that tough to set up and can be done w/o teamcenter.
Drawings seem to come over fine. I have used I-deas extensively and only dabbled in NX. But i did transfer a decent size assembly and all the part and related...
