    PWHT temporary spool

    Gentlemen, P-1/P-1 BW, .sch80 16". B31.3, requires PWHT. To pressure test, spools need weld caps at FW/FA locations, with PWHT previously performed on all other welds on the spools, 1hr hold. Would I consider PWHT on the temporary weld cap that will be cut off and no part of the actual system...

    InspCool , it is not mentioned which P-8 material you are attempting to qualify, may I advise you to refer to Sec IX table 466.1, and verify the jig dimensions to the material's elongation requirements. There are quite some differences.

    DD- Metengr, Thank you, I think then that Question #1 (6010) should be limited to .200 max. That would make sense. Question #2 7018 limited to .664. Total weld metal welder is qualified for is .864 using BOTH F numbers. I appreciated all the things you folks do on here.

    Hydrotest failure

    We had 12X10 TEE, SA 234, blow a crack @ 1100psi, in the area of bottom of branch run, Nitrogen test, we were very lucky no one was hurt, nor was equipment damaged. The TEE was from Malaysia, so China was not the only one that will have this happen. I believe that is why NDE cannot replace...

    Acceptable field hardness testing of weld

    Gentlemen, We qualify our procedures with and without PWHT to ASME, with that being said, we have had no problems with any welds, but we have stuck to the parameters of the procedure. And I agree no accuracy testing pipe.

    Induction heating: facts or sales talk? I need information!

    We have 8 induction heating machines (Miller Electric), they are a great time saver, and also allows weldor to weld on part while keeping interpass temp in range.
