Thanks, guys.
I'm applying this to the cooling of a PSU board in a subsea bottle. We are experimenting with fans and now filling with nitrogen to transfer the heat from the source to the endcaps and bottle to then radiate away (it operates in seawater).
Direct heat transfer is tricky because...
Is a compressed fluid better at transferring heat?
As an example, a metal bottle container with a central internal heat source filled with air at atmospheric pressure. The heat source surface temperature increases (imagine it is a PSU that is generating heat as a by-product of electricity...
Hi,
We are using AutoCAD LT 2007 - with current borders, etc in modelspace only. The problem is that when we attempt to print the page at full size (i.e. 1:1), the page overlaps the paper on the preview and not all of the drawing is printed.
This occurs at all sizes - ISO A3, A2, A1 & A0...
Thanks Tim,
Yes, I'd tried the line width in the dat file, but no difference.
Have you got a step by step plot guide? The help file on NX3 is not very clear.
I think I've got a handle on the Plot.. dialogue window, but then the NX Print window comes up and I can't get from there to anything...
We use CutePDF Writer to produce pdfs for our various bits of software.
Until recently, we got good performance from NX3 by using print.. and using CutePDF set to the same size as the drawing. However, we've just installed some new PCs, and now the printing results in thick lines on some...
Hi,
Anyone out there actually using the ISO 6149-1 Metric 'O' ring fittings in stainless steel? I'd like to adopt an 'O' ring seal standard for all our ports to replace NPT, but have concerns about availability of the fittings.
Traditionally, we have used Parker - and their technical info...
Has anyone got a copy of the SAE J1926/2 standard?
I normally only use the port standard, information for which I get from the Parker hydraulic fittings catalogue.
I now need to manufacture a pressure transducer body that ends in a -16 (1 5/16-12UN) male pipe shaft, and need to know what has...
In NX3, how do I get the second moment of area for a cross section through a part?
For example, a beam which is a C section. What is the second moment of area and principle axis so that the numbers can be used in the beam bending equation?
Thanks
Thanks, folks.
I tried the assembly cut route - that is ok for plain holes, but I can't add a thread to the hole (for example), so it is of limited use. Also, some strange things seem to happen with the blanking of the tool body - I have to repeatedly go into the model tree to uncheck the show...
Thanks guys, but unfortunately neither gets me my icon!
I have checked the customer defaults file and both options are ticked. I have also noticed that using the Insert.. Associative Copy.. only gives me the WAVE Geometry Linker.. option, nothing else.
The only reason I wanted to use promote...
I have read through the "promote" threads and have a weldment that ideally suits promotion and then finish machining.
In the help section, it states:
Promotion of Bodies Procedure
1. Open an assembly. The assembly must be the work part and the component containing the body you want to promote...
It sure is.
I usually define the measure and save it, then use Tools.. Expression.. to define a named parameter (e.g. in your example, named arc_divide_3).
Use the Formula entry as the parameter (use the pulldown to Measurements if you've got a lot to help get the correct one) e.g. p6 (LENGTH...
Anyone out there got step by step instructions on doing a partial section on an assembly drawing?
I can do the full and half sections, but what I want is a partial section through a small part of the assembly, so that I can show this at a larger scale.
How do you move the arrow head point when using autoballoons to identify parts on an assembly drawing?
When I use autoballoon, the balloon arrows often point to an obscure or weird edge on the part (for example on bolts, it often points to the centre of the edge that is the thread end of the...
OK - I see how this works in a part. If the save option always set the expression parameter to the same value it wouldn't be too bad, but as it changes dependent on the model, then we will have to manually assign the correct name to the parameter required for every model created - this is...
