Several people at my office also use the MX518. I really like it. I also just replaced the feet with these (http://www.slicksurf.com), which stops it from picking up quite so much dirt.
Try this- Instead of only selecting the top-level weldment body, also select the individual bodies that have the butted joints. If you do that, the edges you need should show up in your drawing view
