Unable to change region machining order - 2D wall profile

I see, I misunderstood. However, increasing the effective distance also didn't help. I tried various distances 10-1000mm and the generated path is always the same. I also removed the outer profile from the cut selection so only the internal holes are left and this also made no difference in the...

Unable to change region machining order - 2D wall profile

Thanks for the hint, but this did not work. I tried changing the Effective Distance to 1mm and also to "none" but it created the same path.

Unable to change region machining order - 2D wall profile

Hi, I'm milling a part out of flat plate with a single 2D wall profile. I have multiple parts in one program to be cut from a single sheet, so I have one Wall Profile operation per part - internal geometry and the outside profile. I've placed start points in each hole and for the outside...

design stress limit for brittle material

I am working on a design for a die cast aluminum part, alloy EN AC-Al Si9Cu3(Fe) in as-cast condition. I am wondering what stress level to use as a limit for fatigue failure. I have read that because the material is so brittle that it is acceptable to just use the ultimate tensile strength of...

resources for learning about vibration/noise analysis

I'm looking for some online resources or books about noise and vibration analysis on a practical level. Any recommendations?

Is high temperature oxidation of copper detrimental?

We are resistance welding oxygen-free copper wire braid and it's changing colors to purple/red. We haven't seen this before but the supplier is trying to improve the strength of the weld and I think has increased time and/or temperature in their process. Does this oxidation have any negative...

Current clamp for low temperature environment

I am searching for a current measurement clamp that can be used in a cold chamber at -30°C. The one we currently have can only be used to 0°C. Any suggestions? It needs to connect to a data acquisition unit; I'm not looking for a hand held meter. Thanks!

Looking for a smaller 12v DC motor (convertible top drive)

Thanks for your suggestion because I got the old motor running today. I got the back cap off but couldn't get the crimped/rusted plastic terminal cover out even after soaking with penetrant. So I decided to try putting power to it again and it worked! There must have been some crud built up on...

Looking for a smaller 12v DC motor (convertible top drive)

The back cap is crimped into the housing so I'm not sure if it can be disassembled without tearing it up too bad. I will try, though. When I turned it by hand it was pretty crusty but smoothed out after a couple turns. The resistance reading was still open, though.

Looking for a smaller 12v DC motor (convertible top drive)

I've looked through DigiKey and Mouser and can't find this. I just picked up a BMW 135i with a rusted out convertible drive motor. It's 2" in diameter x 3.3" long with a .246" shaft with a single "D" for the connection to the pump. It has tapped holes in the face for the adapter that bolts it to...

    glue for phenolic novolac

Maybe... I just didn't think I'd get a different recommendation if I said 20g's up to 400Hz (which this is), as opposed to something like 8g's to 2000Hz.

    glue for phenolic novolac

I have an assembly that needs to be vibration tested, consisting of small plastic parts clipped into a stamped steel ring. I need to glue the parts together to prevent relative motion during the test. The plastic parts are made from Vyncolit X 689. "VYNCOLIT X689 is a Glass beads & short fiber...

What properties to change to reduce fatigue failure?

We are already using oxygen-free copper here. The cable is crimped on one end and soldered on the other. We have seen failures on both connections. From what I've found, this material is available in different annealed conditions which only vary the amount of elongation at failure, but tensile...

What properties to change to reduce fatigue failure?

I have an application where a braided copper cable is breaking during a sinusoidal sweep vibration test, at the termination points. Changing the temper of the wire is the easiest option to improve this condition. Redesigning the parts to move the resonant frequency is not an option right now. My...
