That's what I was going to say 1old, I think what dither is trying to do is model the wood "sheets" 1 by 1 and then assemble them together to do his FEA.
I think your best shot would be to do it with the composite workbench, I don't think regular assembly constraints would give you accurate results.
go back into your 3D and measure it, there are measurement commands in there. What are you trying to measure in the 2D?? or do you have a "dumb" plan without the 3D pièce that made it??
Hi ken, from the image I cannot tell you much, I guess just by the size of your file in mb you could tell what you have on your hands. I think we have more or less listed all the different ways you can import a V4 model into V5, without having the file to test it out for you there is not much...
Thing is that you probably have a file that only has drawings and no geometry. Try and do this, double click on you *master, if it opens then you have the correct file, if nothing comes out, you probably have a drawing file. You can also check the size of the file, when you have geometry in it...
I think this is what's happening to ken1, If I remember correctly, V4 could treat everything mixed together, so you have to be careful and open a file that has geometry in it, otherwise, you cannot copy the master as it is empty..
.model is the file extension for V4 files, and it should copy/paste, but it depends on what you are copying it into. Try right clicking on the white page with the yellow gear icon, the head of your tree, and do a paste special, result without link.
Otherwise, open the .model, copy/paste everything in it into a new CATPart, then saveas the catpart into an .igs file.
Word of caution, copying things like this can eventually lead to loss of detail, some things don't get properly switched from .model to .catpart

Quick and dirty way to convert a curve into a datun curve, copy it and paste special : Result without link. This will leave you with a dumb curve with no parents.
What version of CATIA are you using?? Just to know if I can open it at home (I have a student version to work on my thesis at home but it's only R14) or if I have to open it at the lab.

It would help if you could provide us with an example of what you are working on, a file that we can see or something.
Normally the geometries needed to instanciate your powercopy depend on the geometries that were used to generate the original part (the one you made your powercopy from) so...
Yep, but V5R17, as well as any version of CATIA before R18SP4, is not supported by Dassault. That goes to say that any problems you have with the soft you will not get any help. This subject matter has been thorougly discussed in this and many other forums, unless you are a developper or a...
It's funny how people come to this and other forums like this expecting help to install/run/debug their pirated versions of the soft.
Some people do not learn I guess...
Thanks Eric,
actually, I found out that if you want to modify them temporarily only, you can go to Properties/graphic and change the color and the thickness of the edges.
What I'd like to know though, is if we can do this change via a macro. To run it and hace the edges turn bright yellow and...
