Pressure vessel nameplate using ASME as design code

Hi ASMEQC, An authorised inspector does do all of those things. Authorised in our country - not sure if ASME is supposed to license an inspector in USA. I have learned that it is a country thing. We are prohibited by ASME from using "ASME" in any shape or form.

Pressure vessel nameplate using ASME as design code

Interesting points of view. Thank you. That got me thinking. This post is now a permanent record so I need to elaborate for the record. The use of the word "fabrication" was an after-thought to try to distinguish between the use of the Code Stamp. It added confusion. Also; Why do we limit our...

Pressure vessel nameplate using ASME as design code

I have done a search and not found the answer - so if this is a repeat, please forgive me. I would like an opinion on the following; ASME codes - lets take ASME VIII DIV 2 as an example, but the question is more general for any ASME. On the nameplate we put a line called DESIGN CODE: ASME...

How do I calculate the time to fill a pipe with an air compressor?

Hi newbieciv, I don't visit here often and was browsing for discussions about a piping issue when I came across this. It may be too late for your needs but here is an approximation anyway. Firstly, air is compressible so hydraulics (incompressible fluid) won't be valid. You need some sort of...

Minimum space between two weld on pipe

I was just looking for such a discussion! - and here it is. 11echo, you say "in your end of the world". Do you refer to local rules, sound engineering practice or a Code? If the latter, what is the Code? - and where is your end of the world? (Generally speaking e.g. USA, North Sea etc.)...

    Mirror a patterned feature

Thanks again for the help. Tried that - still not available. Command Finder locates it but it's all greyed out. Hmmm... will have to do that in other ways.

    Mirror a patterned feature

OK, I see, I don't have the "Instance Feature" / it is not available. In Command Finder, all of its options are greyed out.

    Mirror a patterned feature

Great! Thanks mmauldin. I couldn't figure out how to achieve the "Instanced" hole feature. I spawned circles when I instanced the hole feature - no holes. Couldn't separate the feature from the geometry. So I drew a circle, instanced that and extruded. Worked fine. The 'hole' aspect is of...

    Mirror a patterned feature

I am new to NX and my reference is another CAD system and the CAST tutorials. I would like to know how NX’ers go about mirroring a patterned feature? My example is – a valve has two drilled flanges. I normally; 1. position & size the first hole on a flange face, then 2. cut extrude it, 3...

    Structural modelling

Thanks mjcole! That was very helpful indeed. I have had a look at the docs and learnt a great deal from it all. Regards

    Structural modelling

Hi I would like to know from PTC user's if PTC Creo does structural modelling? (I use Inventor which I consider to be "very good" at structural & piping - I am looking for a hard-core app. that can handle very large plant assemblies - 10,000 parts - and does structural & piping in 3D parametric)...

Net heat flow not same as total heat flux

Thanks for that suggestion! Very kind of you to share that tip! I will look for that. Cheers!

Net heat flow not same as total heat flux

Thanks flash3780 - I was thinking of an approach along those lines. Don't have nor am I familiar with Matlab - maybe I need to...

Net heat flow not same as total heat flux

I think it is the Reaction Probe function selecting the appropriate surface and the convection boundary condition. [2thumbsup]

Net heat flow not same as total heat flux

Hi I’m not totally familiar with ANSYS. I want to find a way to compute the net (total) heat flow rather than the discrete steps of heat flow that match a mesh. In the example a copper rod has a constant temp. applied at each end (200C one end and 93C at other). Convection heat transfer...
