Happened to find this discussion refering to class1-div2 specs. I work for an OEM of custom mfg machinery. We are not familiar with the class1-div2 spec which a customer has requested in a recent RFQ. Where/how can I obtain this info?
Thanks for any reponses

Does that mean explosion proof electricals are req'd in a classI-DivII environment. Sometime ago we had to quote a job that had some classI-DivII issue and we proposed moving equipment to an area either FROM or TO a classI-DivII location to avoid the explosion proof issue. The job never...

Do you have any details on the example you refer to?
Tank size, dia? ht? temp? quiet surface? agitation? mild? violent? distance from side wall?
We design mixing systems consisting of 1000-4000 gal vessels for asphalt modification. The agitation is quite severe. lots of splashing. We...

Dealing with hot oil is a certainly a safety issue. Thermal cycling certainly doesn't help the single welded containment system. The usual low thermal fluid system pressure isn't normally an issue in the piping. We also have asphalt piping with slip on flanges that operates up to 200 psi...
I recently sent an RFQ to Saab-Rosemount regarding their Radar gauge for asphalt service. One of our customers told us to quote that brand of level control for their use. That tells me they have had positive experiences. We are currently using GLI rf sensors. However because of their recent...
I haven't heard anything about ultrasonics. Recently I'm getting positve feedback on radar gauges. the problem is usually one of 2 things, a) can't handle the temp or b) the asphalt build up causes the gauge to misread. I think ultrasonics works on a relatively quiet surface and it needs to stay...
Anyone have experience with level gauges used in agitated tanks of asphalt up to 400F? looking for alternatives to load cells(expensive plumbing)and full depth RF capacitance antenna types(not good for taller tanks). need to sense level within 1-3". need dependable 4-20 output for plc to...

BTW did you ever own a house in HP, Illinois?
We are using a 300lbrf slipon flg welded by an outside vendor. System is ~20psi-550 degF thermal fluid. The flg is extra heavy to allow torqing the bolts to get a good seal against the mating flg without bending the flgs. The flg is only welded to the pipe around the outside but looks like it...
