Anna, I cannot take credit for this idea, and to my chagrin, I forget who originally posted it here. I'd credit them if I could remember.
I'll take credit though, for spreading the idea far and wide. This is something that needs to be taught in the class provided by the VARs. It took TWO...
R2D2LAD, an additional thing to be VERY careful with is two identical "flexible" sub-assemblies. For instance, say you use two identical hydraulic cylinders to lift a platform. Logic would say place one cylinder flexible, and mate it as needed. Copy the flexible assembly and mate it to the...
May I ask what good having several previous versions on your computer would do in this situation? If you designed the project in 2007, and the customer has something older, no version on your computer is going to help. The only way to get the model to the customer is saving as parasolid.
Or...
TateJ:
I'm using an Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 USB.
Driver is dated 6/3/2004, and shows version 5.20.413.0.
Last month, Microsoft Update Service put a newer version onto my machine (OK, with my permission). The new driver did things I did not like at all, so I have reverted back to this older...
TateJ, I returned to my Intellimouse for exactly the same reason. MS Mouse software allows for more versatile programming of the thumb buttons for a wider range of software.
I also found the MX1000 wheel button to be a MUCH heavier push than the MS Intellimouse Explorer.
The drawback to the...
Our Japanese partner uses JIS B0405, which bases the tolerance of a metric dimension on how large it is, and what meterial is being dimensioned:
Dimension Tolerance Tolerance for
Range for Metal (+/-) Resin/Rubber (+/-)

RPCTony, if you right-click on the table created when you paste your Excel data into the drawing, you'll see an item PROPERTIES. Selecting that brings up a dialog box with four items: Width, Height, Scale, and a check box "Sharpen Zoomed State".
You might try that check box. It sometimes...
Select midpoint does work in drawings. It was a nice enhancement added to SW2006; we use it to dimension the centerpoint locations of sheet metal slots.
Corblimeylimey, you may have just learned something new, but so did I. I didn't know Select Midpoint wouldn't work in this pipe instance...
There's no pre-built features for a shaft/head undercut. However, you should be able to copy, then modify, the snap ring groove feature that comes in the design library to suit your needs. Then you can drag and drop. It should take about a 1/2 hour to modify and set up the design table for...
You might consider using a width mate (SW2006 or later) instead of a distance mate. This does all the calculations transparently to you; you only have to select four faces (two on each of your bars), and it rides through configuration changes nicely.
The cost of the fasteners is insignificant compared to the cost of the assembly, so we do not track them via BOM.
The scale of our exploded parts book illustrations generally means the fasteners are tiny dots, so having them there doesn't add anything either.
The model overhead of having those...
Sorry, can't help you with the quicklink.
You can get spring models from Lee Spring: http://www.leespring.com/
You'll have to register to download them, but they're quite pretty, even to matching the powder coat color (heavy die compression springs at least).
You could also take a look at the...
I've run into this problem, when SolidWorks locks up trying to exit design tables, or excel tables placed on a drawing.
I used to have to terminate SolidWorks, losing all work. I discovered that bringing up Windows Task Manager and terminating the Excel Process frees up SolidWorks, though...
I submitted a mate problem to my VAR, including all the files and assemblies involved. He looked at it for several days, and ALMOST had me convinced I was not using SW correctly. He sent it on to SW headquarters; someone there said SW was behaving strangely regarding the mates, and issued SPR...
